Our holiday overlapped the other reviewers, Frankie and Norman's, holidays and my review echoes theirs!
Our children had a great time and they are still in touch with some of the children they met at Villa Solo.
The hospitality of Mladen and his family was something that I'd not experienced before on holiday and it felt as if we were all part of one big family. We were offered figs and cherry sherry on a daily basis!
Some days the villa was quiet as other families had gone out for the day, and some days it was busier and the guests chatted together.
Ploce is a very small town but there are a couple of bars, restaurants and supermarkets there. It's about a 5-10 minute drive to get to the centre of it though. You can't really walk to any restaurants from the villa but we had 4 meals with the family and other guests in 2 weeks and cooked other nights or went on day trips to other towns and ate there. The kitchens have everything you require though.
Split and Dubrovnik are amazing cities and you can drive to them in about 2 hours. The lakes are a 5 minute walk from the villa and they are stunning. You can borrow bikes from the villa and you can cycle round the lakes in about 45 minutes. The view of the lakes from the villa is amazing.
Gradac is probably the closest beach town and it's about 20-30 minutes away. There are lots of bars, restaurants and shops there and we had some nice meals.
The pool is great and the kids loved late night swimming! The apartment was clean and comfortable and as far as I could tell, every apartment had air conditioning in. Each room had a balcony and the room as the top has a large outside area where you can eat outside and lay on sun loungers.
There's a sandy beach about 15 mins drive from Villa Solo called Usce Neretve but there is limited shade.
Overall, the villa was clean and adequately equipped, there's a shared seating area for if you are feeling sociable, but there's no pressure to socialise, and the family are incredibly welcoming, friendly and generous. The land is vast and there's lots of fruit growing which makes it interesting. The figs are very nice!
The negative points are that if you like to explore a country, you are quite a long drive from towns and the big cities (we explored anyway), the BBQ is shared (I understand why though) and you need to ensure that it you're expected to contribute towards dinner at the villa, this is discussed up front to avoid any awkwardness or unwanted surprises.
We had a great time. Thank you Mladen and family. I'll never forget Tai Chi!

Never felt so at home abroad! Hospitallity with no limits, you can feel the pureness of it which make you feel really welcome. We were spoiled!
Great suroundings, quiteness and lot's of spots to escape in the garden or upstairs in a hammock In the shadow.
Defanitly planned to come back for de-stressing. Thanks to you all for having us!
This was our second visit to Villa Solo- we never go to the same place two years in a row but this place is somewhere special. It was lovely to see Mladen,Jasna and their family again. We managed to coincide with the fig harvest this year which was amazing- figs everywhere! Mladen brought us fantastic fresh figs in the mornings , fresh watermelon , cherry brandy,wine- he is a great man- so generous.
The villa is unique because it is set in its own fruit filled grounds in a small non-touristy village We made some lovely new friends - it is a very social place because of it's outdoor space. One of the highlights again was a 3 hour stand up paddle boarding trip on the lakes-truly magical.Great tennis on Igor's court too.
This place should be prescribed for the relief of stress!
Our only problem is we were staying for just one night. The host and family are so very kind and helpful to their guests. The room, amenities were great with plenty of space to move around. This place is in a working farm with many different fruits and olives. The owner gave us a bowl of his freshly picked figs and they were the best we have ever tasted. Would love to visit again and stay longer!
We spent two weeks wonderful holiday in Villa Solo . the extraordinary is the special hospitality of the whole family . Mladen brings together its guests , all sat together in the evening with a sherry . We have made so many acquaintances , our kids had so much fun with other kids at the pool . It was an extraordinary holiday we will never forget. We miss the great cowardly and especially the cherry sherry . We will certainly come again . thank you very much Mladen + family . A wonderful apartment with fantastic facilities! Whilst travelling Europe my girlfriend and I stumbled across villa solo, Pero (the owner) and his wife are fabulous hosts making you feel at home from the off. The pool is clean and big enough to have a relaxing swim, we had been spoilt for 8 days and will be returning in the coming years.
We stayed at Villa Solo for 3 weeks in June of 2015. Our first ever visit to Croatia was one to cherish forever. Pero and his family are terrific hosts. The apartment was clean, spacious and cool. The surroundings of the Villa near the Bacina lakes is simply gorgeous and the location is great for daytrips to Mostar, Dubrovnik, Korcula or Split. Nice beaches can be reached within 20 minutes by car, good supermarkets are a 5 - 10 minute drive. The apartment complex was perfect for a family with kids but is also quiet enough for couples. The food Pero and his lovely parents cooked for us on some of the nights was simply amazing. I am a hotelier with 12 year experience myself, but the heartfelt and kind hospitality this family showed is hard to find. We missed the place as soon as we left and will definitely return one day.
