Arrived there late in the evening and Sandro was there to greet us and even carried our bags up the stairs (98 total if i rememeber correctly) for us. When we got to room there was some treats (chocolat and bananas) and some beers and wine waiting for us.
Very spacious appartement and bathroom.
On one of the days that we were there i asked Sandro if he knew a place where i could do my laundry and he offered to do it for me for no charge and even picked it up at 9pm for it to be ready for the next day (i didn’t request that, just the kind of person he his). And did i mentionned that every morning he would put donuts on our door for breakfast.
I’ve been to many hostel, b&b’s and so forth (not counting the hotels where all of this is expected) around the world and don’t write reviews too often, but this is probably the best customer service i had so far in my travels. Very refreshing.
Well done Sandro.
It was a little hard to find the entrance initially, as there's no reception area. The apartment is up 6 or 7 floors, with no elevator, but that's to be expected with old buildings in Europe. Sandro was very friendly and helpful though. He helped carry my big suitcase up to my room, and when I checked out at 4:30 am, he showed up to help carry my suitcase downstairs. The room was clean and comfortable, with air conditioning and plenty of hot water for the shower. I also got a bottle of wine, can of beer, juice, fruit, cookies and chocolate in my room, which was very nice! The location is great - within walking distance to Diocletian's Palace, waterfront and bus station.
Sandro was waiting at the door when we arrived and even carried our suitcase up the 98 stairs for us. There was beer, wine, water, juice, milk, fruit, chocolate and biscuits in the apartment and he even topped the beers up a couple of times while we were there. Every morning there would be a different pastry hung on the door, which always set us up for the day. He even came in and cleaned, which is not something you would expect when you're staying in an apartment. He's around every morning if you need anything or any advice on where to go.
You enter the apartment through the door next to the bed, it's not the biggest apartment but does have everything you need, including everything to cook your own meal on a hob, kettle, fridge, hairdryer, iron. There's quite a large rail to hang clothes on but only 4 hangers so I would suggest bringing your own as there's no shelves or drawers.
There's one room that connects the apartment, studio and room. If you're a light sleeper, you can get woken up if people are coming back late or leaving early in the morning. Nothing a pair of ear plugs doesn't solve!
There's a small ladder to the shared terrace with a lovely view of Split but we only used it once as the sun went down too early while we were there.
On our last day, Sandro held onto our suitcases and brought them downstairs for us when we were leaving, as our flight wasn't until the evening. There is a short walk but I would advise getting the public bus (no. 37) to the airport as it only costs £2!
We stayed in the apartment for 9 nights while it seemed like others were only staying for 1 or 2. I would recommend staying at least a week as there's so much to see and do in and around Split and the property is within walking distance of everything.
Amazing place. Beautiful, warm and cozy bedroom near centre of Split with free parking. It's perfect for couples, very romantic. We have no words to describe Sandro, he has been the best host we have had. He helped us with our suitcases and welcomed us with fresh fruit, wine, cookies, beers and chocolate. He also woke up early in the morning to give us breakfast and two big sandwiches. I highly recommend that place. Thank you for all once again!
Stayed a week in this guest house with my girl friend. 5min walk from the Diocletian palace, 10min walk from the main Boardwalk. The rooms are absolutely superb, with everything you need in it to make you feel comfortable. And to top it all off the owner, Sandro, makes you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in, the vibe we got off him is that he lives to make sure his guest have a relaxing time while in Split. 5 stars for sure and will definitely be recommending and coming back if we are ever in Split again.
