“We loved it and we'll be back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2011

This is a beautiful, small hotel in a fantastic location, in the heart of the Palace in Split. The location is so central and yet so quiet at the same time.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon in July. We had the room at the top of the stairs (2 flights) but the lovely man carried all of our cases up there! In the morning, we awoke the a male voice choir singing in the vestibul below - very relaxing and romantic!

The staff in the hotel really couldn't do enough for us, they were so helpful and friendly.

The room was lovely - fresh flowers, great decor. The bathroom was small, but perfectly functional and clean.

Split itself was lovely, so much to do and see. The Palace is fascinating, and I would definitely recommend a trip round the cellar/basement of the Palace - which is basically right below the hotel!

We are planning to go back to Split soon and we would definitely stay here again.

We loved this place. We stayed as a family with two kids (9 and 6) and really liked the fact the hotel was right in the middle of everything. We could easily walk to all the major sites worth seeing, including the beach, and be back at the hotel chilling out within minutes. In terms of location, excellent and a real oasis from the rest of split. This hotel focuses on excelling on customer service and providing a first class product in terms of their rooms...marry this with their location and they are onto a winning formula. Will definitely look to stay again if we visit Croatia again.

Hey gang, Travelsnob on the Dalmation coast looking out for the best.

All of the reviews are pretty right on. Its a little gem with a ton of history and charm. Not too often can you say you stayed in the changing room of an Emporor. Unlike the Hilton Dubrovnik which I stayed in (see 4 star review)--this is inside the walled city---

I stayed in the main hotel and they have an annex which is equally as charming.

Fantastic staff--very knowledgable and friendly---personal service since it is so small--

Nicely appointed rooms---Not large, but comfortable---Big bathroom and shower--

Small Flat Screen mounted on the wall---chincee there, but expected.

Food was very good. Breakfast was delicious and every meal we had was above average---as I've said in other Croatia reviews---if you're a foodie, Croatia is not your country. If you like hard core liquors that will knock you off your feet, then it is!

Book way ahead---very small and a lot of good reviews will make this hard to get into in the busy summer months.....

Good value for the money and an experience you need to try.

A two night stay before a cruise of the Croatian coast turned into an extremely pleasant stay at this small but exclusive hotel. Perfectly located in the heart of the palace grounds, it was a jumping off point for explorations of old town and above.
I would say that one selling point that sometimes gets slighted in reviews is service...which this hotel with its young staff manages to being off effortlessly. To a person we found the staff to be helpful, personable, interested in their clientele, cordial in manner and live up to a professional standard that many hotels seem to lack nowadays.
The restaurant is small but serviceable and the rooms while not large are modern and clean

What to say?

From the minute I walked in until the I time I left nothing was too much trouble.

The wonderful staff always show a friendly respect. The room? ...as good as I knew it would be. The breakfast and dinner are more than excellent enough for me not to want go elsewhere. The variation of food is enough to always excite one's appetite, the wines are local and good. Pricewise, it is not the cheapest but compared to others in the same price range, head and shoulders above all of them. Having visited Split, for busines reasons, for eighteen months or more I had become aware of all the hotels in Split and its environs. Given availability, it is after all in the very centre of the city and the Diocletian Palace, I will always choose this hotel over all others.

Would I recommend it to others? Only to those that I knew would appreciate a good thing when they part of it!

Room Tip: They are all as good as each other, remember there are only seven or eight..

Our family of ten occupied the four rooms in The Villa Dobric Annex. The rooms were beautiful and the staff was very helpful and friendly. There is no elevator (I'm not sure they are allowed within the old town) so the stairs and the walk from the parking lot were challenging for anyone with mobility issues but the staff came up with creative solutions. If you are driving into Split and parking, ask the hotel for instructions to make the experience much easier. There were many delicious restaurants, historical sights, and shops nearby. I highly recommend a visit to Split and this hotel in particular.

Hotel Vestibul Palace - No they don’t have a gym or a pool or a spa; what they do have is cute apartments within Diocletian’s Palace walls! Right in the heart of shopping, sight seeing, cafes, restaurants, bars, nightlife. We stayed in a loft-style villa and had a cute view of city within Palace walls. Only a short stroll away from ocean front and more bars. Short walk from Marjan Hill which has one of the best BBQ restaurants named Perun.

Their service was second to none. Everyone was very cheerful and happy, and unbelievably helpful. (Why wouldn’t you be when you live in beautiful Croatia?). Breakfast was lovely and included bread, yoghurt, juice etc. If you want more of a variety for breakfast you do have to pay more. We arranged for a car and driver through the hotel to drop us off in Dubrovnik. Branimir was our driver. He was very informative, knowledgable, and fun. We enjoyed his company immensely. Our experience with Hotel Vestibul is one of many things that made us fall in love with Split. When we go back we will surely stay at Hotel Vestibul.
