“Worth a visit”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

It is small and fast to get through, yet gives a good overview on how the city developed and adds color to the experience of the palace itself.

“Surprisingly good little museum - must see”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

This museum is in a medieval house, complete with a pleasant courtyard and fountain. But it's what's inside that really makes this a must-see. The museum contains loads of material from the history of Split, including a very good 3D model of Diocletian's Palace when it was new. The building interior itself is superb, fully restored to its medieval splendor, then converted to a very modern facility. Surprises in include a sedan chair from the 18th century.

It's a quick visit and really helps you to understand the history of the city.

“Condensed History of Split in an hour”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

The Papalić Palace's courtyard, windows and well itself is a masterpiece. Within an hour see the Diocletian's marble dining room platter (1700 years old) and the French, Greek and Roman influences. Highly recommended and easily accessible. They sell informative books for children and adults explaining Split's colorful history.

“Cheap and a good way to kill an hour”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

It was only about USD$4 to get inside the Split city musuem and it was a nice way to spend an hour or so since we had already explored much of the palace.

“Really interesting”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

This a great museum for those who like museums. The city museums are always great to check out, it's cheaper than a guided tour but it gives you a great overview of the history of such a cool city. Also, the admission fee almost pays for itself if you use the washroom while you're there! Don't forget to ask for a student rate if you've got an ISIC.
