“This fruit market is beside the bus drop off & clothing stalls”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

Absolute great you can buy 2 peaches and 20 cherries they sell good clean healthly fruit to walk around the with and it has tree shadeover most stalls. Its just delightfull to spent 1 hr in the 2 markets and buy a few things to travel with. The main water front is 100m away and Handbags & hats are everywhere and most are good quality and you can always find size style & colour that big stores don't stock. We are 65 yr old Australians and loved the place as must visit in Split. You can see everything in Split in one full day.Our second day out to a new big Shopping centre was a waste of time unless its a wet day as its inside but the bus ride is 30 minutes.

“Bustling square”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

It's one of the squares within the Palace walls. Lots of shops, cafes and stalls abound making for a bustling and touristy place. Fine for people watching but little history.

“A must see in Split”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

If you are going to Split and into the old town you must not miss the fruit marked! Get up early in the morning and be there when the fruit is still fresh, and enjoy a breakfast consisting of fresh and sweet fruit, honey, nuts and so on. This marked does not only offer fruit, you can also get all sorts of croatian specialities and goods. This place is a cheap and excellent place to have your breakfast one day!

Here you also can witness the daily life of the croatian people, because the marked is frequently used by the citizens in Split as well as the tourists.

The market is an amazing sight!

“Make Your Own Meal from a Visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

We got several meals out of our visit to the market. At one spot we bought about four different kinds of cheese. At another spot we bought prosciutto, carved while we watched off the hind leg of the pig, the best prosciutto I've ever eaten. At another spot we bought spit-roasted pig, juicy, savory. At another spot we bought fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce. At another spot we bought fresh sandwich rolls. At another spot we purchased home-made olives. At another spot we purchased drinks. We took the food back to the apartment we were staying at and enjoyed several meals from our purchases, including wonderful sandwiches made from the fresh bread, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese and prosciutto. The roasted pig we ate by itself.

“Eastern European-like marketplace”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2013

Of course it is cute when farmers sell their own products, but the marketplace itself is pretty ugly, hard to get through, and dirty. Very similar to other Eastern Eauropean "bazaars" I have seen in my life. Every table has very similar products, flies, decomposition are present... far away from a cute one you can find in some small village in Central Europe etc. Go there for your daily fruits and get out quickly in the morning. Also price tags are not always present, so a "special tourist price" for you is guaranteed. A makeover is needed.
