Lucija took us through the old Palace walls of Split at 18:30.
Having previously had a few beers throughout the day, we (girlfriend & I) rushed to make sure we caught the last tour of the day.
It was a Sunday so a few of the sights were closed, and also the imminent visit of the Croatian President to open the Summer festival inside the old Palace walls meant certain sections were cordoned off, but this did not deter our guide from meandering like the pied-piper, through the narrow streets divulging information as we proceeded.
Lucija's attention to detail encompassed the ancient Roman culture that had proceeded, the architecture, Croatian history and even best beach destinations.
Make sure you do it! !

Our guide, Lucija, was very frank and told us all about the Palace's history exactly as it was. She was very knowledgable and very informative about the amazing surroundings. Free walking tours are such a great way to add to all the sights your recommended to see, and helps to make them not 'just another church/wall/ruin...'!

This is a great way to get to know the palace and surroundings, as well as understanding the background and history of the palace. Our guide, Lucija, made it even better and was humorous and extremely knowledgable, without overdoing the explanations/history. This was especially impressive considering it is a free tour and I would recommend this to everyone!

The guide (Danko, or similar) was excellent -- enthusiastic, well-informed, and funny. The tour moves quickly enough that if you are not a rabid history buff you won't be bored but also manages to dispense a lot of information. A must-do in Split. It also is truly free, though your guide will ask for tips. But they need it, so if you enjoy, do tip.

My husband and I happened across this free tour while we were waiting for the changing of the guard at Diocletian's palace. We, too, were a bit skeptical because it was free - I thought we would get a lot of pitches for local restaurants and attractions, but that was not the case. Our guide, Lucija, was very knowledgeable and personable and explained a lot of the history of the palace and the city. I am very glad we took this tour instead of wandering around in ignorance. The tour lasted about an hour and quarter and was not at all tiring.
