“Entertaining and informative way to learn about Split”

The guide (Danko, or similar) was excellent -- enthusiastic, well-informed, and funny. The tour moves quickly enough that if you are not a rabid history buff you won't be bored but also manages to dispense a lot of information. A must-do in Split. It also is truly free, though your guide will ask for tips. But they need it, so if you enjoy, do tip.

“Very worthwhile tour”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

My husband and I happened across this free tour while we were waiting for the changing of the guard at Diocletian's palace. We, too, were a bit skeptical because it was free - I thought we would get a lot of pitches for local restaurants and attractions, but that was not the case. Our guide, Lucija, was very knowledgeable and personable and explained a lot of the history of the palace and the city. I am very glad we took this tour instead of wandering around in ignorance. The tour lasted about an hour and quarter and was not at all tiring.

“Best Things In Life Are Free!”

Was a bit sceptical before the tour began on the basis that you don't get anything in this world for free!

But needn't have worried, great factual tour delivered with humour and passion. Centred around a relatively small area with plenty of stops so don't be put off at the thought of doing loads of walking.

Our guide was a student trying to fund his college education, so bring some money as a well deserved tip, great way to spend an hour & get a feel for the city and its history.

Went for the tour, loved it! The guide Doneco smiles a lot, he's funny. Learned a lot about the history of the city, saved me alot of time. Next time I'll wear a hat, though, my nose is all reddish from the sun:-)!

“Very worthwhile tour!”

We jumped on this tour and so glad we did. The guide is entertaining and very knowledgable about the history of the exporter and the palace itself. It beats wandering around on your own wondering what you're looking at. Only goes for just over an hr, if you get the 11am tour you get to see the change of the guards and 'emporer + wife' (who only come out at 12noon each day + are a bunch of budding theatre students- very cool). Thumbs up + make sure you tip- he's worth it.
