“Very interesting place”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

Everything has been recycled through the centuries. You can see Roman, Venetian, and other influences in a central location. There's even a 3,500 year old egyptian sphinx in there. The streets are polished from over a thousand years of foot traffic. Inside it's littered with cool pubs and pizza joints. It makes up for the area surrounding the Palace, which can be a little dingy.

“The Imperial Palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

This palace in Split, Croatia's second largest city, is enormous. It sits right along the seaside promenade, and its outside walls are 590' by 705' in dimension. It dates back to 300 AD when Emperor Diocletian was in residence. Inside the walls is an entire city composed of both ancient ruins and more modern structures. Churches, shops, apartments, restaurants, etc., can now all be found within its walls. Definitely worth a visit.

It was the highlight of Split. They filmed Game of Thrones there last year. Make sure you have a good guide to show you around.

“well done”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

I love that the people have maintained this palace and still live work and play in it. It was an awe inspiring mini city and the lady who ran the desk to the basement tours was so delightful and helpful. Very informative and beautiful town.
