This place is a must to see if you are in Split. It is something unbelievable and unique. Imagine an old city built within once Roman Emperor's palace. I assure you that's what it is. Go see for yourself.

Beautiful palace, I can't believe they aren't charging the entrance fee! Very well preserved and very nice, full of people during the summer!

“Nice but a Tourist Trap”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Beautiful structure, but so overwhelmed with tourist it was hard to take. More enjoyable at night when all the tourist shops are closed and you can just enjoy the good food, fine wine and sunset on the water.

“Spend time wandering the streets”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Different to Dubrovnik - this is a very mis/mash of streets and structures. The lanes and alleys are fun to investigate and worth spending some time in this area.

“Fascinating history and still a living monument”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

We toured the basement and could see where the excavations had occurred...centuries of trash and refuse accumulated, but the structure was still strong. Apartments and houses were built upon this structure and locals are still living in them.
