“Back - a year later”
Reviewed November 3, 2011

Back to the Radisson Blu in Split - a year later and again a most impressive stay.

I wrote already last year about this very beautiful idea.

Coming back I was curious what/if things changed.

No changes to my positive experiences of the previous stay - the hotel is kept in mint condition.
Last year (due to the recent opening of the hotel then) the Grill Restaurant was not yet opened and the Radisson Beach was under construction.
Now both places are open and a must visit.
The Grill Caper Restaurant is, almost as expected, a great place for dinner.
Beautiful sights and a very modern setting - great service and good quality food.

The real surprise was the Beach.
A huge deck with plenty of sunloungers, Umbrellas and small platforms with cushioned relaxing area right on the crystal clean Sea.
A large round Center Bar will provide all the drinks you desire.
Great is also the small but beautiful Outdoor Restaurant Mistral. Again, great views and a very beautiful setting.
A short walk from the hotel will take you there (5 min.) - maybe one point that should be taken care of is the directions to the Beach - they are there, but not too visible - maybe a clearer marking could be done.
The rooms of the hotel are simply stunning - try one of the larger rooms on the top floor - great Bathroom, space to move around and plenty of space in the wardrobes.

A year later the Radisson Blu is still getting better from an already high level.

Room Tip: The Junior Suites - wow - if you face the Sea - what a panoramic view.

We stayed three nights as part of a package arranged for us. Our room was in an annexe to the side with views over a beach. /Our double room was comfortable, but not overly large. The safe was located in the cupboard, on the floor. There were no instructions when we arrived, so we had to guess how to use it. Eventually we had to call for assistance. The man who arrived, had limited English so we found it very difficult to understand his instructions. In the end we managed to work it out for ourselves.
The hotel has a very grand open entrance hall. Our room was in a side wing, and we wondered if it had been tacked on afterwards. In order to get to the restaurant on the first floor, we had to descend from our first floor room in to the ground floor, cross the entrance hall and climb a flight of stairs back onto the first floor. It was good exercise for us each day!
There were also some rather strange examples of furniture in the middle of the entrance hall, obviously architect designed to look like waves but impossible to sit on comfortably. The food was adequate, but not fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and the spa, which was luxurious and very relaxing.

Cons:
although the place was open only for couple of months at the time I visited, the public areas were stained and smudged.
walls are so thin that the couple next door shushed my college and me when we laughed
no wireless Internet access.
no Croatian TV channels.
Pros:
I loved when, on my request, maid brought me the ironing board and iron for no extra charge. service was above average, personal nice and friendly.
loved the breakfast.
Note:
I think that welcome drink would be more appreciated if served in a bar instead directly on a check in board

Room Tip: i loved my standard double room with view over the urban area!

Stayed at the Radisson Blu Split in May 2011 with a couple of friends. The hotel was modern and beautiful and everything seemed newly updated. Staff was on the whole very friendly and helpful. The hotel is on a bluff overlooking the ocean and the pool and dining areas had great views. Location is a little ways from downtown Split but taxi is quick and relatively inexpensive. We also walked a couple of times and it takes about 20 minutes. All in all a very nice stay.

Stayed here for two nights at the end of September. The hotel is lovely. It was so relaxing by the pool although the water was cold it was very exhilarating and lovely to swim in. The first evening we arrived we walked down the steps to the beach and along the coast towards the town although we didnt know how far it was. It was lovely. We walked through the market area and came to the old town and had a reasonable priced meal in one of the hidden away places. We got the bus back to the hotel and stayed there all the next day and evening. Hotel staff were helpful. The breakfast was amazing. The night we had dinner at the Hotel (think it was €20) It was Italian night. Lots of choice of cooked dishes and a chef standing ready to cook pasta with whatever combination of ingredients to make a sauce, Tomato, cream, herbs, gorgonzola. It was lovely. You could eat outside on the terrace. The room was clean and modern with frosted glass bathroom walls and bathrobes. coffee machine and complimentary bottles of water. I didnt want to leave but had already booked to stay at a hotel in Brela, a 45minute bus journey, for one night before catching the ferry to Ancona.

Good, clean with excellent staff. Hotel a bit outside the old city, about 3 km. One can drive or take bus 17. The facility is good with nice breakfast spread. The front desk staff, all, was fantastic.

I called this hotel to make reservations for a handicapped accessable room. The room they gave us was a disaster. It was so small that the bed stuck out in the bathroom doorway, so the bathroom door would not shut. The "wheelchair accessable" bathroom was totally inadaquate. There was no room to manuver the wheelchair and no room for a caregiver to help a wheelchair bound person to the comode. When I complained to the the staff they did everything they could to fix the situation, eventually moving us to another room, not a room with grab bars, but one with plenty of room for us to manuver both in the room and in the bathroom. A very bad situation was turned into an acceptable one. I appreciated the staff's hard work in fixing this situation.

Our second night here was our 20th wedding anniversary. The hotel staff worked with me and the restaurant management to provide my wife and I with a memorable dinner complete with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a special chocolate dessert prepared by the restaurant chef for my wife. This was the first time in my 66 years that I asked to meet the chef. The dinner was the best prepared and certainly the presentation was the best I have ever experienced!!
Overall this ended up being a good experience. I would recommend this hotel, however not for wheelchair bound guests with a partner.
