Description: Come and experience our small family owned restaurant that father, mother and son run. As we are based on the fresh seafood our offer changes daily depending on what our nearby fish market has to offer. Try our cozy homelike atmosphere, fresh seafood and our wines and we will put a smile on your face.

We were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, and got a table on the street (inside is really small). Great for people watching. A very popular restaurant. We enjoyed fish pate and calamari to start, and then a piece of the best cooked tuna steak I think I've ever had. Wine recommendation was great too.

The food was simple and delicious! The service was amazing! I mentioned it was my husbands birthday and they brought us (for free!!) a beautiful piece of cake with "happy birthday" written on it! It was worth it!

Ok, besides the fact that the fish was amazing, the service was perfect. When I wanted a wine bottle recommendation for the table, the owner/manager said we like to know whatnot are ordering before recommending a wine. The wine he chose was superb. The Hake was outstanding, and all were so simply prepared, it was shocking.

Try the Rakiya, especially the honey flavor!

We loved this place so much we retrained the next night, something we never do on vacation, and we were not disappointed, both nights were excellent.

We were in Split for 5 days in May 2014 and tried many seafood restaurants. We found that Konoba Marjan offers best of the best seafood in town with excellent price. Fish and seafood were perfectly grilled and served with grilled vegetables. This restaurant is located in town center and is within walking distance from the pier and town center bus station.

We had dinner at Konoba Marjan one evening at the end of April 2014. This is a fish restaurant, with a nice selection of fresh fish and seafood. We had the mixed fish grill and the fish was cooked to perfection and arrived at our table hot and nicely presented. However, the grilled vegetables were overcooked and extremely salty - to the point that the salt taste was still in my mouth quite some time later. When we pointed out the saltiness to the server, at first there was some denial of this, and then an apology. He attempted to "make it right" by giving us 2 complimentary cherry liqueur following dinner.

The ambience in this restaurant was somewhat lacking, given the prices they charge for dinner. It's quite brightly lit and crowded and the background music playing was old western pop music, including "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". We found this kind of music track pretty inappropriate and would have preferred more authentic Croatian music.

We thought it was expensive. The mixed fish grill for two and a bottle of wine (recommended by our server) came to almost the equivalent of 60 euros. For that we expect a better dining experience

All in all, not bad - although the fish was excellent, resulting in our 4-star evaluation - but we'd probably go elsewhere on a return visit to Split.

Hi Rob

Thank You for taking the time to write a review on your experience and share it with tripadvisor community. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed our grilled seafood and i apologise if your vegetables were too salty. As you said it was crowded and sometimes mistakes happen in the kitchen so if our guests tell us immediatley we can do something to make it right, but if you tell us after you finished the dish we can only apologise and offer something complimentary on the house. Considering that you mind that the restaurant is crowded i can not understand because it creates lovely atmosphere as in konoba should be. About the music we did make a mistake as our cd player broke that evening and we put local radio station that unfortunatley played that song. We play traditional "klapa" music in our konoba usually.
Considering price that you thought it was expencive let me just tell that we have 0,75 wines in our wine list from 120 to 300 kuna and we always recommend a few choices to suit the food from lower price range to higher price range. Also let me say that we DO NOT charge bread, couver or side dish which are charged in most restaurants in the area with similar or even larger prices than ours. Nearby fish market where we get our daily fresh fish, choosen by a lot of care by my mother and the main chef, dictates the prices and just a few steps down the path on the promenade, it is charged almost twice more than in our restaurants.
I hope that we can host you once more to make your experience better.
Kind regards
Josip
