I debated for a while whether to give 3 or 4 stars and settled on 3 because of how uncomfortable the temperature of the room was! It was ridiculous, you don't have control over your own temperature (despite the control panel in the room) so as soon as you entered the room and body heat started to warm things up it was way too hot!

We called and asked for the temperature to be adjusted by the front desk, they did so but it got extremely hot as soon as we had a shower, trying to get ready and put make up on wasn't an option because we were so hot and sweaty in our room. If you open the window to get some fresh cool air it just turns off the air conditioning.

The bathroom has a glass wall separating it from the bed, it has a curtain to pull across but it isn't large enough to make the whole distance so if you don't want your significant other/family member/friend watching you do your business they'll have to leave the room.

Despite the negatives the hotel is in a great location and they have a simple gym with everything you need for a quick workout.

Dear Priscilla_Packer,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and point out excellent location and our Wellness area.
We would like to apologize for the uncomfortable temperature in your room as we unfortunately had some issues with the air conditioning system in your room. Please know your input was greatly appreciated and the problem was immediately fixed. Regarding the circumstances we offered a discount on your check-out. I would just like to kindly explain that normally it is possible to change the temperature in the room (the display will show current temperature in the room), however we had technical issue.

Reason why the A/C turns off when you open the window is to save the energy as part of environmental protection procedures we have at Luxe.
We are sorry if you didn’t like the design of the bathrooms. As mentioned in some responses before, the idea is to have more light and open room feel. We do have rooms without window as well and if this is an issue I'm sure we’ll be able to find a solution that will make our guests more comfortable.

Ones again we're sorry about technical problems with A/C. We tried to make your stay as comfortable as possible and I’m sorry we didn't fulfill your expectations.
Kindest regards,

The hotel is very central. Like walking distance to the ferry and Diocletian's Palace (if you never heard of Diocletian don't worry you're not the only one but it's interesting - the story behind it). And the people live in the complex still, lots of shops and was our central point for food and touring the couple of days we were there. Hotel luxe if good, very functional. Small rooms but thoughtfully outfitted. And the staff and service is very good! You could also get a massage booked but note there is only one person available (or at least when we were there). There's also a good convenience store and currency exchange just round the corner - gave the best rates when we were in town - was recommended by the hotel staff cause the hotel does not do currency exchange. The breakfast was small - but it's ample. Biggest negative - the wifi. It will bump you off and force you to relogin - like from step 1. It doesn't remember you. And it was a bit patchy. One small other bit to note. The bathroom - there's a large glass picture window panel between it and the bed room. So you can look into the bathroom and vice versa. I guess to help provide a bigger or more open room feel. There's a curtain that you can draw but it doesn't cover the whole panel. Might be a little awkward if you are rooming with someone you don't know well.

Dear D C,
Thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel. We appreciate your feedback.
Firstly I would like to thank you for bringing up our excellent location, thoughtfully outfitted rooms, good breakfast, great staff and service.
Regarding your comment about our WiFi I would like to explain that sometimes you need to re-login for security reasons, so we can protect our guests from any kind of cyber-criminal. It is a small step for a safer service.
We are sorry you didn’t like the design of the bathrooms inside most of our rooms. You're right about idea; to have more light and open room feel. All of the windows of the bathrooms are curtained; perhaps in your room curtain didn’t cover the edges of the window...? We do have rooms without window as well and if this issue was addressed upon your arrival, perhaps we could have change the room or tape curtain to the window edges... I'm sure we'd find solution that would make you more comfortable.
Most important for us is that our team was helpful to you and made you feel comfortable. Excellent service is at the very heart of Hotel Luxe.
I hope this was not your last experience with us and thus look forward to your return in the very near future!
Kindest regards,

Very comfortable hotel in a great location with parking situated behind hotel. We only spent one night in Split and would definitely stay again if we ever return. We had a comfort room with small balcony overlooking marina. Room was small by Australian standards but perfectly adequate. The staff very very helpful and all spoke English. The location of this hotel is excellent, very easy to find and less than five minutes walk to both the old town and the marina with plenary of good restaurants and bars around.

The hotel is in a great location with modern decor, the breakfast is pretty good and starts at 6:30am until 11 which was nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It's right across from the old port next to a pharmacy and a little mini mart.

For the first night we had an upgraded room on a high floor with a terrace and a nice rooftop view. On the second day we had to move into a less expensive room because we had only reserved for one night, and needed to shower and rest to get a late train, so we paid for the extra night. This second room had a small high window with no view. There was also a curtain to pull if you wanted to have privacy in the bathroom, which had a glass window as one of its walls). Unfortunately, this curtain was not wide enough to cover the entire “glass” bathroom wall. This bathroom/glass wall arrangement brings all sorts of other thoughts to mind about the clientele the hotels serves, but I would rather not get too graphic here. Actually at breakfast there were a lot of grey heads like us.
Some may find the hotel décor to be “mod” and “glamorous,” but we found it to be garish and tacky—not relaxing. See photo below of one of the lamps. To be fair, we are “older” travelers and stay away from pink, purple, grey, silver and artificial flower arrangements as a decorating palette.
But looking beyond the décor, the front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and went out of their way to make one comfortable. Our room & bathroom were fairly clean; the bed a bit soft for my liking. The breakfast coffee was tasteless and the eggs in the buffet server were cold and greasy.
The Luxe does have a good location if you want to be near the bus station, the train station and the main Ferry docks. On our arrival day we walked/rolled our suitcases from the train station to the hotel (about a 20 minute walk with luggage, a bit of an uphill climb). The old town focal points are also an easy walking distance. The place seems a bit pricey for what it is, and I don’t recommend this hotel for families or stays longer than two nights; unless this kind of décor appeals to you.

Dear RonnieSEUnitedStates,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel. We appreciate your opinion.

For the first night you had a Superior double room, a higher and more expensive room category. Considering your initial reservation was only for one night, the room we had for the second night was the last one available and it was a lower less expensive room category.
We are sorry you didn’t like the design of the bathrooms inside our rooms. All of the windows of the bathrooms are curtained; if the curtain didn’t cover the whole window we do apologize for inconvenience. If you would have addressed this issue we would have solved it in no time.

Also, we are sorry to hear you didn't like our decor. Decoration is simply a matter of individual taste and most of our guests choose to stay with us because of unique design. We're receiving so many positive comments on our decor from other guests, all generations. Some of them even say it takes them back to better and younger times, so I guess it is only a matter of individual taste.

Most important for us is that my colleagues where helpful to you and made you feel comfortable. Thank you for bringing up our excellent location. We are, indeed, located close to the old town, bus station, train station and the main Ferry docks.
Here in Luxe we are most attentive and committed to offer the best of service experience with great hotel products as all other reviews show.

Warmest regards,
