Whilst I was there for only one night before joining a sailing trip, it was well worth it! The owner was there on time to meet me and allowed me to store my luggage early (10am) so I could get out and see the town as quickly as possible.
The first thing I noticed was how lovely the room smelled! It was wonderfully clean and cosy with a great bed and shower.
Excellent location - close enough to the road behind the town so you could avoid cobble stones and stairs if you have a wheely suitcase.
The noise from the restaurant / bars downstairs wasn't too bad - the convenience of the location compensates for needing earplugs. You felt right in the middle of things with all the city bustle going on around you. Very festive!
Airconditioning kept the room cool on a very hot day.
Laptop with wifi provided in the room.
The other reviews say it all and I fully agree!

The apartment was stunning.
Table and small kitchen area if you want to eat in the apartment. Wifi and a computer. Great nights sleep with a comfy bed a blind that keep the room really dark and air conditioning....
The location was great.
You really felt like you were in the middle of the action. Cafes just downstairs, staying in the middle of the Diocletian's Palace so right in the middle of all the history!

Split is a fabulous city and this is the perfect location to explore.

Recommend Buffet Fife for huge cheap meals. Figa for food and cocktails. Ghetto bar for relaxed drinks.

What I hadn't learned from the reviews is that where you are told to go isn't the apartment, it is a rental office. When we got there it was closed. We had to call & when the person came to show us to the apartment she had forgotten the keys and had to retrieve them from her car which meant another wait. The apartments are up 4 flights of stairs of 10 steps per flight and a bit convoluted to find (which is why they tell you to go to the rental office). We had apartment #3, which was large and clean with a small kitchenette. The plus of this apartment for me was the bathroom, which was larger than I expected, with a hot water heater that made hot water instantly rather than traveling through pipes for miles to warm up. This apartment is part of a complex with a central sitting room with a shared computer. WiFi access was great and the location within the walls was perfect. Note, if you drive a car you will have to park blocks away from the old city & wheel your luggage in.

We stayed at Kaleta apartments for two nights and were impressed by the apartment. Clean, spacious and right in the old town. This is a great spot to stay in Split. It was a little noisy at night however, which may have been the apartment we were in, but it made the two nights sleep we had there a pretty ordinary. Free wifi was good and although we didn't really like split, the apartment is nice. Parking is an issue here, if you rent a car be prepared to walk about 10 min from the car park into the old town where the apartments are.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room!

I have stayed in Kaleta apartments on 4 different occasions, Each time in a different apartment ( I have stayed in two apartments above Teak Café, and two down the street). Each time everything has been fantastic, all of the apartments are situated in old city of Split with all the charm that could be asked for. This time I was in one of the apartments above Teak Café. I have met the owner (a bald, well spirited croat) and spoke with him a few times. He is always has the utmost concern about our stay and personally makes sure our trip is the best. I won't stay anywhere else in Split.

Room Tip: Ask about the apartments above Teak Café that have a view to the small alleyway outside. It's no...

While traveling to Croatia, I spent a total of 3 days in Split at Kaleta Apartments. I had the pleasure of staying in two different apartment buildings because I traveled to Hvar for a day in the middle. The first two nights I stayed in Apartment 1, and the last night I stayed in the Suite with the pull-out couch. I can't tell you which location I liked better, because they were both so amazing!

Apartment 1 is located right next to a bunch of little shops and cafes, making it very easy to get a quick bite to eat. The Suite was a little more secluded, off of a side street, but still within the walls of Diocletian's Palace and only a 2-3 minute walk from the other set of apartments. I can't even begin to describe how amazing the location of these apartments is. It feels as though you have been transported back in time and are roaming around on the Roman alleyways of Diocletian's day. Every turn feels like a new adventure. The rooms themselves were extremely charming with hints of Croatian history mixed in with modern times. And of course, they were very clean and comfortable. Both rooms had Wifi and computer access. We always ate out, but there was a nice little kitchenette available as well.

The hosts were very accommodating, thoughtful, and courteous. They were able to work around our schedules and helped us navigate not only Split, but the rest of Croatia. I was very impressed with their kindness and would highly recommend Kaleta Apartments to anyone visiting Croatia.

Room Tip: The building with the Suite (with the pull-out couch) is a little quieter if you want to be a little...

This is my 3rd time staying in Kaleta Apartments - every time, I'm blown away by the shear awesomeness of the experience. This time, I stayed in the recently expanded set of apartments a hundred or so meters from the original apartments. Still within the walls of Diocletian's Palace, these apartments are seconds away from the hustle and bustle off the main squares of Split but in a secluded ally in the old city that offers complete peace and quiet - an unparalleled dichotomy. The apartments are decorated with modern and antique relics of Diocletian's Palace and Split artwork. Naturally, there is Wifi, satellite TV, computer, fridge, and massage showers - all of which makes leaving the apartments difficult. Seconds away from all the historic attractions of Split including the Riva, Sv. Duje, the ferry, bus station, cafes, etc. About a ten minute walk from the beach and night life of Split. It is a family run set of apartments with incredibly welcoming hosts who will greet you with some domestic cookies/fruits. They will escort you to your apartments and ensure that everything about your visit to Split is perfect. Hosts were also able to help with onward travel to Hvar - ferry and accommodation arrangements. Highly recommend!
