“Good Location - Beware Major Construction Noise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2010

We stayed in the beautiful Marmont Hotel for 2 nights in early summer.

Rooms: Large, luxurious and comfortable.
Location: Excellent, city centre loction.
Cleanliness: Clean and well maintained.
Breakfast: Fantastic breakfast in a cute little room off reception.

However, please beware before you book this hotel as there is major construction taking place in the adjoining building. The extremely loud drilling commences at 8am an does not cease until 6pm. Therefore you will not have a relaxing stay or the pleasure of a lie-in or afternoon nap. The drilling and hammering woke us up at 8am precisely and when I complained to reception the receptionist advised that there was "nothing they could do". The manager refused to come to speak with us and said they were allowed to make noise between these hours. I asked could we move hotel rooms as they were basically on the other side of our room - which they agreed to but when I did you could still hear the construction. The hotel itself was lovely but it was definately not the relaxing & romantic break we were hoping for. Rude and unhelpful staff & manager.

We stayed in this hotel from 31st July - 6th August 2010. With a bit of hunting around we managed to get a pretty good online deal at £100 per night for bed and breakfast in a standard room. In my opinion this represented excellent value for money.
The hotel was a little tricky to find, its actually off Bavice Street, tucked away off the 'peoples square' but once you find it you realise what a great location this hotel is in.

It was literally a 2 minute walk to the Riva and a 2 minute walk in the other direction to the old town and 'peoples square'. And despite its central location the hotel was extremely quiet night and day.

I read all the reviews before travelling to the Marmont and have to agree with the majority of people that also say this is a great hotel. I found the staff extremely helpful and friendly. There's no denying the breakfast room is small but it was never full when we went for breakfast and if they had run out of things the staff were only too happy to bring out fresh supplies. The breakfast itself was also very good, great selection of fruit and pastries along with some cooked breakfast items.

The standard room was by far one of the better standard rooms of other 4 star hotels. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom big with the biggest shower I've ever seen. Rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaners even provided extra sheets as they realised that we were too hot with the supplied duvet.

Really had a great time in Split staying in this hotel, I would definitely recommend staying here, particularly if you get a good online deal.

I only stayed here for one night before I flew home. We also stayed in Hotel Vesibule and I prefer this one. The rooms are much bigger and the bed softer. The front desk lady was extremely nice and offered to have a to go breakfast and coffee for me before my early early flight the next day. Will definitely stay here the whole time if I visit Split again.

First of all -- if you have a car with a GPS unit, don't try to drive on the Riva to get to the hotel. It will lead to lots of angst and acrimony with the local policija. There is parking for the hotel to the east and west of the old city. Call them first to arrange parking.

It's a small hotel, but very well run. The hotel room was perfect. Breakfast was really good. Location is amazing, right in the heart of the old city. All the big attractions are within walking distance, and what isn't walking distance is accessible by the numerous bicycle and scooter rental spots all round the Riva.

You, dear reader, should stay here.

Cute boutique hotel right in the middle of the old town of Split. Room was modernly furnished. Only pitfall (unless I was completely blind) was that I couldn't find the AC in the room and that is a definite must for summer in Croatia. Price of room slightly overpriced at 250 Euro a night but location could not be beat. Price included continental breakfast. Also includes free internet.

Split was discovery itself for us and we are still under impression of our journey to Croatia. To tell you the truth, we didn't expect much, concerning most of important sights in Split were built more than 1700 years ago. So, we thought "hotels in city that old, that we've never heard of before - let's prepare ourselves for the worst!" Oh, how wrong we were! We booked the room via telephone, by recommendation from an acquaintance, so we hadn't seen any pics before we booked. When we arrived to the hotel and entered the lobby, our chins lowered to our knees. Fancy, ellegant and modern view, but with few walls made of old stones, just the touch of an ancient atmosphere. Then the room: beautiful, comfortable, clean, not too big - just the right size. Of course, it had bathroom and all amenities you could imagine or need. Unfortunately, the temperatures were too high to sit on the terrace in the afternoon, but that's what the evening is for! And the lounge...story for itself! The service was great, staff was very hospitable and kind. I mustn't forget the location of Marmont Hotel: 90 seconds fast walking to the eastern gate of the Diocletian's palace! Given that the hotel is in the centre, we could walk to all historic sights plus discover the contemporary side of the city. We will definitely be back there next year!

We've staid 2 nights and I can only agree that the hotel is in perfect location, in the middle of old-town, just around the courner of everything.

Is it 4 star? Partly not (only small towels, paper tissues for breakfast, extra charge for an Espresso during breakfast...), partly yes (nice rooms with very nice bathrooms, good service for dinner reservations...). BUT - at the price of € 250,00/night I would expect more. Split is Croatia, not Sardinia, not St. Tropez.... and therefore € 250,00/night is overpriced for a standard room in a 4 star Hotel.

Anyway, if you go to Split this Hotel is one of the better choices.
