“Tiny bathroom but good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

Fine for a few night's accomm, it's close to the ferry and bus port and to the old town. Hosts were very friendly, the only gripe i have is the toilet faces the shower cubicle and there is not much room for your knees in front of you! Otherwise this place is nicely tucked away from hustle and bustle.

We had a lovely big room in this guesthouse. A big king bed and a single bed as well. There was a seperate kitchen, however not to many pots and pans were available for cooking, so we just ate sandwiches. A nice washroom, but be careful about backing up into the faucet, you can scald your behind. Nice view out of the window and a very nice garden. Tons of potted plants everywhere.
The only minor complaint was that the heat was not turned on in our room, so it got a bit chilly in the evenings and the mornings.
The proprietress was very accomodating and offered us her parking spot as parking is at a real premium in Split. People seem to park anywhere and everywhere, which can make getting around corners and through narrow streets a big challenge. Beware whilst driving.
The proprietress also offered us a nice cup of coffee and biscuits upon our arrival - nice touch.
Nice place to stay if you want to be in Split. We discovered shortly upon our arrival that we did not want to be in Split, and were sorry we had booked 2 nights. The place is way to busy for our liking. Would have been better for us, personally, to stay in a little place out of town. But that is just us.

Room Tip: I do believe all rooms would be nice. There are 2 that face right onto the street, and 2 face the ba...

The Location is a short walk to Diocletian's Palace and old town market. It's a little hard to find because of all the one way streets. Parking is Free on that Street. However, it cannot be "reserved" as stated on the Booking.com info page. It's on a "First come; first serve" basis and traffic is very busy. When you find a spot, it is hard to get into because cars keep whizzing by. The best we could find was about a block and a half away.
The kitchen has been updated very nicely with recessed lighting, etc, but there is NO hot water for washing dishes. There was no spatula or serving utensils. The bedroom is quite large and the bed was comfortable. There was also an extra twin bed. In this apt part of the bedroom is also used as a dining area.
There are many stairs from the street just to the entrance to the building and then many more to our 2nd floor apt. No one helped us with our main bags coming or going. Mario showed up after most were in the apt and helped with my carry-on. Then he proceeded to try to move all of our bags to another apt until his daughter came and said he was confused about what apt we were in. The Wi-Fi only worked in the entrance hall adjacent to the owners apt. TV is quite small. Toilet and bath area is very cramped and there is a dangerous step up from the toilet area to the tub and sink. Only a hand held shower attachment in a sit in style half tub.

This little guesthouse is really good value for money. We had a large room with lovely windows, a good bathroom and a little kitchen attached. The host is very friendly and helpful (he speaks better German than English). It's a great location - minutes from the old palace and also the ferry port. We didn't get to use the garden as we weren't there for long (used it as a stopover between the airport and heading out to the islands the next day) but it looked lovely. We'd definitely stay there again if we were in Split. TIP - we found it difficult to find as we couldn't find the entrance! Look for a large green iron door on the road the address shows you and that's the one, there isn't a massive sign.

There really was nothing to critizise about our stay at Guesthouse Vrlic. Our room (full size apartment) was amazing, the hospitality on our arrival and throughout our stay was fantastic, the location was great and there was no issues with our wifi. In addition to all of this, the price was extremely affordable!

The good: This guesthouse is a well-run business. The room was very clean and large. It had air-con and a kettle and cups to make a drink. There is a pleasant garden where you can eat your own food. It was fairly quiet, although on a busy road, as there was double glazing. The owners were friendly and helpful. They suggested a good restaurant and offered us a coffee on arrival. The location is great as it is near the old town and the markets and the ferries and buses, could not be better position. I would stay there again for sure.
Could be better: The bathroom had a ledge on floor which was a bit of a trap, if you forgot you could either hit a toe or fall down. We both stumbled down. It would be safer without it but it probably cannot be taken out - so just be aware and careful. We put a towel there so we would remember it. Bed was comfortable but rather creaky so disturbed my friend in neighbouring bed.

Myself and my partner arrived to Split airport with a two hour delay from Gatwick so we texted the guesthouse and Bernada agreed to come and meet us, we were so pleased that she didnt mind this at such short notice. The location is brilliant for Split and the ferries and bus station, supermarket just down the road and bakery at top of road. We had a great little fridge in our room which came in so useful for us buying nibbley things for lunch from the supermarket and keeping it nicely chilled, including the cheap wine (that doesn't taste cheap-drinking it now) from the supermarket.
The hosts and general hospitality was second to none. We stayed for 10 nights and used it as a base for island visiting, (after we had visted the hospital due to my partner getting a pretty bad nasal infection-dont forget your passport, UK has a reciprocal agreement with Croatia and even if you dont have travel insurance they will see you, give you a prescripton and send you to chemist. We payed £2.50 per visit, and he had two.
We liked the fact that the guesthouse owners were very uninstrustive but if you needed anything they were very happy to help, e.g corkscrew for our wine (i assure you were not alcoholics lol). We also asked for a lift back to the airport and this was briliant too, such a lovely family who run the guest house and really want you to enjoy your stay and Split, Thank you Vrlic Family, xx Gary and Michelle

Room Tip: Our room, room 4 was great, air con worked well and fridge was great too, over looked the garden, ni...
