Candelaria Antigua Hotel
Ranked #31 of 75 Hotels in Antigua
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 1, 2013

I have just returned from my fifth stay at La Candelaria Hotel in Antigua. They have consistently provided outstanding hospitality and service over each of my visits there. As other reviewers have stated, the hotel staff make you feel like you are at home away from home. We are received like family and welcomed with open arms.

The accommodations are large, the showers are hot, the food is excellent and the view from the terrace is outstanding. It is a short walk to many of the sites of Antigua or just a great place to relax and reflect with a view.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Antigua area.

We recently stayes at the Hotel Candelaria hotel in June 2013 when on a mission trip to Guatemala. We really enjoyed our stay, especially the hotel staff who really went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable and that everything was taken care of.
One notable feature about the hotel is that it has all handmade furniture, doors, window shutters, etc.. and is really impressive...worth the stay alone.
Overall, we were very comfortable during our stay at the hotel and enjoyed the food & Guatemala coffee. We would definetely recommend this hotel to others traveling to Antigua.

Despite it being a bit of a walk from most restaurants and attractions, everything else about this hotel is perfect. Beautifully appointed rooms, a charming courtyard, a stunning rooftop terrace, friendly staff and very clean. The breakast is excellent. We have already booked another stay.

Small, quiet hotel just a few blocks from the main part of town. Helpful staff, good feeling, great rooftop garden with views, lovely courtyard, adequate amenities. Breakfast from 7:30 includes eggs made to order.

Room Tip: some are smaller than others, all are situated around the courtyard on two levels

The hotel is quietly located about 10 minutes walk from the centre of town but tuk-tuks are easy to find and cheap Staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is very well-run with a good atmosphere. It is built on two levels around a courtyard with fountains and greenery and a roof terrace above. The smallish standard rooms are fine and include a decent breakfast, but for a little extra you can upgrade. There are flat-screen TV's with BBC and CNN. Furnishings are in character with the building and include some nice antiques. There is a small lounge area on the ground floor with comfortable seating.

Room Tip: Corner room on first floor gave extra privacy

The hotel is safe, clean and has friendly service. It's a little far from the downtown, but this facilitated a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Hotel is close to laundry facilities and convenience stores. Kitchen stuff gladly accommodated a vegetarian breakfast.

Such a quaint hotel away (but not too far) from all that you want to see in Antigua. I would be sure to know exactly where you are going and how to get there as the shuttle van and at least one tuktuk had no idea. Loved the courtyard and upper deck.
