Based on the cost per night, this hotel is a nice place to stay. I have always felt safe (even when traveling without my husband). There are times when the language barrier (not being fluent in Spanish) is a hurdle; but it doesn't seem to be an issue large enough to hinder the enjoyable experience.

If you have read the other reviews, you know the top rooms are superior. My husband and son stayed one night in a downstairs room. The window opened up into the "hallway" (breezeway) where guests entered and exited the hotel. Although, the staff make every attempt to keep the hotel quiet, there can be guests who do not abide by the rules. This can be a bit noisy for those with the windows opening into the hallway (especially since there is no air conditioning).

Room Tip: Top story rooms are best (view of volcanoes!)

On a two month backpacking journey through Central America we stayed at Casa Cristina for a week and loved it. It is less hotel and more immaculate home and that's what we loved about it. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfy. We stayed in the volcano view room for one night and it really is an incredible view. The owners will go out of their way to help you and Carlos stays up all night in reception to answer the doorbell and help with early morning checkouts. We could not have felt safer or more comfortable while staying at Casa Cristina. Thank you for a lovely stay!

This hotel is more than I expected, the rooms were always clean, the staff is very friendly and always helpful. The location was perfect, walking distance to everything. I felt very safe there more so than in other hotels we stayed in during our stay in Guatemala. I would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family members.

Great location. The owners were very friendly. They even kept our bags for several hours after we checked out. The room was clean, safe & we had hot water. Check out the view from the roof. Beautiful.

We stayed at Hotel Casa Cristina for two nights in June 2013. Good location with lovely roof terrace. Clean comfortable room with good shower and wifi connection. Unless you are a heavy sleeper you are unlikely to sleep well as the noise from other guests and staff echoes around the building. People were arriving late and leaving early and we heard them all!

My son and I just returned to California from a two week trip in Guatemala. Originally I had planned on spending the first night in Guatemala City and our second and third nights in Antigua at Casa Cristina. I had found Casa Cristina in the Moon travel guide to Guatemala and reserved a room online. However when I started researching shuttles to hotels in GC from the airport I found it was easier just to go directly to Antigua so I contacted Casa Cristina and luckily they had the room available for our first night in Guate. We stayed in room 7, two double beds, on the second floor. The room was clean, as was the entire hotel. The staff was always friendly and helpful. They arranged shuttles, gave restaurant recommendations and directions to places in town. We liked our first few days there so much that we ended up coming back and spent the last three nights there before we headed home. In contrast, we spent one night at a hostel in town on a busy street and although it was $15 cheaper per night it was noisy, the sheet was gossamer thin from having been washed so many times and the shower barely got luke warm. We couldn't wait to get back to Casa Cristina. They also have a nice terrace on the roof where we hung out one night and watched the lightning flashes across the night sky.
