“Best hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2012

This is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at in all my travels. The hotel is super clean, the staff are thorough and friendly, the rooms and hotel are very safe and secure and the facility is gorgeous. The owner Patricia is a fantastic hostess and she should be commended on the staff she surrounds herself with. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! I have booked groups with this hotel in the past and have NEVER had any issues. Very professional to work with.

The staff are lovely and friendly and oh so helpful. The beds were very comfortable and I hardly heard any noise at all. They provided snacks for me on early morning adventures even though I had missed their notification cutoff time of the day before at five pm. I had to switch hotels because they didn't have space for me for the full week of my stay. They went out of their way and took me to my other hotel personally when the other hotel dropped the ball on picking me up. It is not very far from the central square and is right around the corner from La Merced. It is a great value also. I definitely recommend this place!

Room Tip: Try to get one of the upstairs rooms. They have great views.

We spent five nights at casa florencia, with a five day trip to the lake in between. It is very sage and secure and we were able to leave the bulk of our luggage there while we visited the lake which was great.

The staff are lovely and the rooms are immaculate. Best cleaning job I've seen anywhere.

My only criticism is that because of the layout there's no common area for guests and this often resulted in noisy conversations happening right outside our room. One morning there was a big tour group who were really loud and woke us before 7am. The staff were very apologetic and even gave us a nice breakfast to apologise, but this sort of thing probably happens all the time.

It was definitely better when we had an upstairs room. I would stay there again, but only if I had an upstairs room as I think the bottom level is way, way too noisy.

The hotel is very clean (indeed, the staff seems to be cleaning constantly) and the staff is very helpful. The location is a on the edge of the town but things are within walking distance. We were disappointed with the size of the room---with two beds and a small desk (but no desk chair) there just wasn't much room for two people, and spending any time in the room meant laying on the beds. Room size aside, the place is very pleasant, secure, and a good value (although they require payment in cash!) but next time I would choose a different hotel.

We LOVED staying at the Casa Florencia - what a wonderful place with wonderful staff! We noted the extra special care and the exceptional cleanliness of the entire facility!

Some of the "out of the norm" things that we noticed included:
- the staff inquired, pro-actively, whether we needed a wake-up "knock" at ungodly hours on our departure in both segments of our stay, and indeed ensuring that we were awake at the appointed hour
- we had left 2 pieces of luggage behind after the first segment of our stay, and to our delight, the luggage was already placed in our rooms upon return! we did not have to inquire about them!
- our final departure was at 4:00am.. we received our wake up knock at 3:30, and to our delight, without us having requested it, 2 take away breakfasts had been prepared for us! Now that was classy!

Patricia, the owner, was great - as was her staff! - the service was simply impeccable! We wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend Casa Florencia to all who visit Antigua -

We began and ended our stay in Guatemala at Casa Florencia (our "splurge" at 50 USD a night) and it was a wonderful experience. We stayed in room 6 which has a beautiful view of the volcano. Patricia was very helpful and flexible when we were planning our stay and gave us late checkout and luggage storage when we went mountain biking before transiting to Flores. It felt very safe, the door was always manned, and when we came back the staff remembered our names, and our luggage was whisked up to our room while we were out to lunch. The hotel provided towels, shampoo, great Internet accessible from the room, and beautiful surroundings. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Pick a room in the second floor! We had room 6 which had a great view of the volcano. But as others...

We stayed here for 6 nights. It's a lovely place, attractively furnished in the Spanish colonial style. The rooms on the upper floor would seem to be the best. Reached by an open balcony corridor, with banks of bouguainvilla and a stunning view of the volcano, they are light and breezy. The rooms themselves are small and the bathrooms tiny, however, there are seating areas outside each room in the balcony corridor. The front door of the hotel is kept locked at all times and guests must ring the bell to enter, so very secure. The staff are constantly mopping, polishing, dusting so the entire place is immaculate. When I became very ill with food poisoning, Lorina immediately called an Engliish speaking doctor who arrived within an hour. She phoned in the prescription and had it delivered, provided tea at odd hours and was very supportive.

We had excellent dinners at Hector's several times (NOT the source of the food poisoning) and had great granola and coffee at Ferdinands for breakfast, just down the street, where there is also a very cute resident cat!

Visited the very colourful local market on Thursday, and also recommend the "museum trail" at Santa Domingo, the old convent and monastery have been beautifully restored along with the lovely hotel Casa Santa Domingo.

Room Tip: Chose one on the upper floor, light and airy, possibly the main floor rooms are a little dark and ch...
