This old monastery has been updated and holds a lot of history...worth a look...beautiful setting in the ruins.

It's very tourist friendly, not only for fancy 5star public. Don't miss walking the corridors and the court, and use the shuttle to go to the Domingo hill for the views and sculpture garden.

The hotel is built around ruins so its beautiful. It's hidden away in Antigua and is such an amazing hotel. It's definitely a lot more expensive than most places in Antigua but it's worth at least one night there! I have been to Antigua several times and not until my last time did I discover this beautiful, hidden hotel. Service is great. There are multiple pools. There's a chocolate store.

Built in the ruins of a 16th century monastery, Santo Domingo combines the new with the old in an incredible tasteful way. Much of the structure of the monastery has been preserved. The hotel, itself, is a museum but it houses several other museums that display artifacts found during the restoration.
The rooms are large, quiet and tastefully decorated. The staff is pleasant, professional and helpful. Our total experience there was truly outstanding.
