“Beautiful hotel and grounds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2013

The landscaping is beautiful, as is the hotel. There are also some interesting ruins on the grounds. The staff is lovely, and sometime they have a native art exhibit. Definitely worth a visit.

“at least one ruin where entrance fee is put to good use”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2013

When you´re not staying at the hotel, you pay 42Q/pers and can visit the ruins (apart from the central fontain of the former cloister, about every other part of the ruins is used as restaurant or special events area, and there was a wedding being prepared, so you don´t go because of the ruins really) and a few museums situated on the grounds. The colonial museum was small, but well installed. The glass museum was really quite interesting, but a number of temporary exhibitions added wherever there was space make the whole quite chaotic. Don´t miss the silver museum (accessible by a staircase at the ticket desk), but it´s a shame that no origen and often even no mention whatsoever is given about the objects. Count at least 1.5h if you wish to walk the entire circuit. I only give 3/5 because I would have appreciated fewer but more in depth museums...now, it seems as if the museums are part of the workshops (candle making, chocolate shop,...) on site : a bit of low threshold animation for the guests. But at least the ruins are being used.

“One of the most beautiful places on earth!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2013

This hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels in the world. The food is totally amazing, the service is of a 5 star hotel and the location is really good, only 2 or 3 blocks away from central park. Antigua itself is a very amazing and breath taking place and it has so much history. I recommend it and we'll definitely be going back!

“Fabulous architecture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2013

This is a real winner of a tourist site. It is one of the many ruins in Antigua, but it is also a hotel - a really classy one. Even though it is a commercial hotel you can walk through the ruins and the hotel lobby. There is an 'amphitheatre' and beautiful gardens. Also an art gallery and a restaurant. Give it a visit and maybe have a meal there.

“beautiful colonial architecture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2013

We walked around the building and it was absolutely beautiful. It is so nice that you can do this without having to stay there. They have a beautiful restaurant too, but we did not eat there. The bathroom is huge too!!
