“An Oasis in the City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

Walking into Santo Domingo transports you to another time. The ruins are well kept, the gardens are beautiful, the signs are in Spanish and English, and there is no one hurrying you along. There is a convention center and restaurant on the grounds that we did not explore but would like to in the future. The grounds are quite spacious and takes awhile to see all there is,.

“Fascinating combination of ruins and hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

Other travellers recommended this place if I wanted to see some ruins and absolutely didn't regret going. It's interesting how they built a high standard hotel around the ruins. I was surprised and enjoyed walking around. Saw birds, art, museum of history, ruins and the most interesting part is going undergrond to see human bones

“Toured paseo de los Museos”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

The grounds of the Casa Santoi Domingo are well worth the tour. Highly recommend visiting this hotel built on the grounds of the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo. Well marked signs in Spanish and English identify the key features of the church. A must see in Antigua.

“Wow!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

I was a guest for three days at this amazing hotel and cultural center. There is not a detail overlooked in the care taken to create an atmosphere of peace and beauty here, down to the fresh rose petals put daily into old stone containers full of water around the grounds.
The rooms are beautiful and luxurious, the food at the restaurant is excellent (also the service is not for those in a hurry!), and the grounds are spectacular. In this restored convent which covers almost full block, there are a couple of museums, ruins to explore, a shop which makes its own chocolate candy, a pottery workshop, and an outdoor stage area. All this within the walls of the hotel. Must be seen to be believed. If there is one place in Guatemala where you should stay for at least a couple of nights, it is here!
