In reading this review, first remember what the room rate (fairly inexpensive)
Positives:
Great staff, english speaking very helpful with everything from taxis, wine glasses to calling local vendors Quaint court yards, nice decorations, very clean, safe, doors locked at all times. Free pure water and coffee. Free WIFI, Close but not too close to town center. Breakfast is a good deal

Think about
Each bathroom has a 2 foot decorative hole about 10 feet up that opens directly into the courtyard, no glass, you hear everyone else's bathroom and they can hear you.
It is very very noisy, bring ear plugs. The desk staff try to keep guest quiet, but it is difficult.
The beds are hard
The shower is inconsistent in pressure and temparature.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1 and 11. Although room 1 has no windows it was much quieter. The second floor will have windows to the street

I have stayed here 3 times since 2010. We go with a medical mission group so we take up much of the hotel. Administration and staff are always very accommodating, assisting with many and varied requests including transportation and tours on our off days. If I could change anything I would move the coffee machine to the other courtyard so early morning risers would not wake up people in rooms 1 to 5. Beds were nice and firm, shower and bathroom average for central america. Upstairs are away from the front and have something of a view. Downstairs room face courtyards (3).

Room Tip: For quiet, ask for rooms upstairs or with a higher number. Each room has a open window in the bathroom. Rooms 1 & 2 are right by the coffee machine and registration so more noisy, usually in the mornings. Choose 6 & up.

I wanted to stay in posada, heard and saw these type of hotels in Portugal, and this one didn't disappoint me. Realy old building, very attractive and a lot aof antiques. Magnificent view from the second floor balcony, extremely friendly staff, there is always somebody english speaking on duty. Good complimentary coffee, and cold water.

Room Tip: Try to get the room on the second floor. Especially not room 2 - very dim, very close to entrance , so not so quiet. And facilities not good - we changed in on the second night.

nice courtyard, my room was off the courtyard which had running water in the fountain giving a relaxing atmosphere. quiet anyway due to low season. downsides : no windows so no ventilation and hence room smelled of damp; single beds were creaky and moved when i turned around in bed. staff helpful and courteous. booked volcano trip through them, standard fixed cost of US$ 10and his collects from the hotel so don't bother booking through an agent.

Room Tip: my off the courtyard room was quiet. other rooms are to the left of the reception and off the corridor so less quiet as people are walking long the corridor in day/night.

My room was quite small but tall ceiling meant it felt ok. Decorated nicely. Clean. Everything worked. Chilled water and coffee available near reception.
Staff extremely helpful and phoned a riding centre for me so I could arrange a lesson.
Would recommend and return if my travels take me that way again.
