The pictures do not do this place justice. The owner is an artist and captures the essence of Antigua in all the beautiful details, such as museum quality art work and a first rate restaurant. It what was the most romantic spot in a town that is full of charm and beauty. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful.

I'm already booking for next year! thanks Panza Verde for a wonderful vacation!

Room Tip: I loved our junior suite. Room number 9.

The most striking thing about Panza Verde is its beauty. Our room (11) had one of the most gorgeous bathrooms we've ever seen. The room was very large and comfortable. The rest of the hotel is equally beautiful. The rooftop is very interesting: lots of nooks, a turret, several areas to sit and admire the great view. The breakfast room is both stunning and relaxing, a great place to start the day. Blanca, the breakfast hostess was wonderful.

The biggest issue is noise. You expect noise in any Central/South American city (firecrackers, roosters, etc.) However, the hotel compound is well-insulated from outside noise; the noise comes from the hotel itself because of the way it is designed. The room windows, which must remain open for ventilation, overlook the quite popular restaurant. Many have noted the music between 8-10 PM on some nights. This was not a problem for us; it was quite pleasant. However, you could clearly hear diners' conversations until about 11 PM. Likewise, they could probably hear us using the bathroom.

There is a small lap pool in the middle of all this, right under the bathroom window. I was woken at 7 AM by someone using the pool. The hotel's stone walls worked synergistically to magnify the noise in our room.

Last, the front desk was efficient but lukewarm at times. Upon checkout I had to quibble about the room rate I was originally promised. This was not comfortable for me and unexpected in a hotel aspiring to a high level of customer service.

There are many choices in Antigua, several less expensive. I would suggest checking them out first.

Dear guest,

We apologize for any inconvenience you had at the reception. There was a misunderstanding between the company that you booked your reservation with and our computer system. We are making sure that this inconsistency is taken care of for future customers. As for the noise, we are sorry that it was an inconvenience for you during your stay, this is the first we have heard a complaint from that room. We will be looking into sound proofing in the near future. Thank you for your comments.

Don't get me wrong - this place has so much character. The rooftop terrace is stunning and every space is artfully and uniquely decorated. What's strange, though, is that the rooms surround the restaurant so you literally have to walk by people eating to open the door to your room. The bathroom literally shared a window and wall with the restaurant. It was a little awkward at times, to say the least.

I should also note that, while this place isn't far from the center, it is kind of on the outskirts of the town. Given, it's not a huge town, but I feel like I should mention it since we did comment on it when we were walking back one time.

We stayed in Meson Panza Verde for one night - and it was really an amazing experience! From one side it is luxurious, from another one - very authentic, and definitely, it is extremely cozy. For your understanding - there are around 12 rooms in the whole hotel. We were staying in Junior suite. Overall, the room was decorated so wonderful, that we had a feeling that we want to take home every second piece of furniture. There was even a real fireplace! The only thing about the room which did not exceed our expectations was view - we were looking at green hedge.
Regarding food: we had exceptional dinner at hotel's restaurant (even though it was quite expensive). Breakfast disappointed us a bit: there was tasty juice and cappuccino, but choice of food was very limited (eggs, butter, cake, some fruit).
Overall, the hotel is located quite far from city center. But the city is so small itself that in fact it is around 7 minutes walking distance. Also please note - hotel's location is marked incorrectly at least at booking.com! We spent 15 minutes trying to find the place according to that map.

My partner and I had an amazing 2 night stay in this hotel. This was our first trip to Guatemala and loved every second. The hotel was architecturally beautiful, with so much detail and delicious decor! From in room fire places to hand made wash basins, this was truly an incredible experience and would definitely be staying when we go back!

Room Tip: get one with a fire place!

Meson Panza Verde is a great place to stay, though maybe not with young children (they would not understand). It is dressed like a colonial period elite residence. They have nice fire places in the bar and restaurant. The breakfast in simple but very nice. I think we were in the cheapest room and it was still nice.
