It is nice to walk under the colonnaded facade of this building. It will be interesting to see how this property is finally developed. There are nice views of the park across the street and the cathedral.

It is an imposing structure that I never saw a shred of activity at the entire week I was there. Maybe everyone was on vacation.

We chose the self guided tour to Antigua from the ship. Handmade jewelry, textile products such as hand bags, shirts are excellent and cheap. Mind you that nothing here is labelled as 'Made in china'. every product is authentic. Most excellent coffee and chocolate are from native Antigua. coffees $10 per bag. Negotiate with local vendors. Almost 50% off the said price.

With its 4 feet wide walls and magnificent arches. The Palacio de los Capitanes is a monumental building that flanks the Central Park. You can visit the interior to see a courthouse at work in the same manner that it worked in the 16th century. The paintings inside are of the Conquistador Don Pedro de Alvarado, who conquered Guatemala in the name of the Kings of Spain: Queen Isabella and King Fernando de Castilla. From the second floor terrace you will have the best view to the Volcan de Agua. Dont miss this opportunity.
