Very far from town center, not conducive to our needs....would be great for family with children. Rooms need updating, carpet with padding would be nice. Favorite part was chiminea, which staff person lit for us in the evening. Next time will stay in town. Antigua is quite lovely!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bath villa for a week. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful the entire staff was during our visit. They responded to every request within minutes. The housekeeper was impeccable, and everyone greeted us with a friendly smile. We also were grateful that the property was located away from city traffic and noise. It was a 10 minute walk to the city square, but because it rained much of the time we were there, we often took the free hotel shuttle or a tuk-tuk for only a few dollars. We were also pleased to be in a smoke-free room with a comfortable king bed.

Antigua is an beautiful, historic city. The plumbing is old and tap water is in the hotel is not potable. Travelers from the US to Guatemala should expect this and be careful. If I were to have any criticism, it is that the rooms do not have modern heating. It was a little cold one evening, and the staff send someone to build a fire in the bedroom. Unfortunately, the smoke from the fire filled the apartment, and we had to open windows and doors.

I would recommend Soleil La Antigua for anyone. For an adventure, take the chicken bus (which stops right across the street) to the Valhalla macadamia nut farm. It's only 3.50 quetzales, and on the way back, they dropped us off right at the hotel.

We stayed in 2 bedroom unit #415 and 1 bedroom #412 for two weeks and had a great vacation. Gorgeous property with many gardens, courtyards, and stunning views. The staff was VERY willing to please, and the units themselves were large and nicely appointed. No balconies, but the units face a large courtyard and the staff brought us some chairs to enjoy it. No elevators or...it would be a challenging place for anyone with physical disabilities as there are steps and cobblestones everywhere.

Hotel was EMPTY during the week, filled up on the weekends, mostly with people coming in from Guatemala City to enjoy the cool weather. Pool is only heated Fri-Sun and does get cold by Thursday. There are some kids games and music by the pool on the weekends. The Spa is great with decent (by American Standards) prices, Room service was good as well. 10 minute walk to town, 2 dollar tuk tuk ride back.

The downsides: No AC, but most in Guatemala don't have it. Wifi is five bucks a day, but they do have free hardwired computers in the business center. The Gym is small, and the hot tubs are segregated so couples can't use them together. Laundry service is very expensive, but there are many laundries that do drop off for under a dollar a pound.

All is all, a great vacation, but don't expect a Westin in Antigua!

Room Tip: Rooms 3/4 12 and 15 face front...+is great view of sunrise, -is traffic noise!

I just stayed here for a large meeting. This was the third or fourth time we have met there, and we come back because of price, service and location. The hotel is beautifully landscaped, and the staff really work hard to make your stay enjoyable. Rooms are comfortable-- a little worn, but still clean. And since there is no heater or AC, there is no fan to drown out the city sounds and the nearby road. It's an easy walk to the city center, markets, shops and restaurants. The hotel does arrange tours, which I didn't take, but others enjoyed. The food is incredible, with large buffets. If you don't speak Spanish, you'll be comfortable as many of the staff do speak English. Other reviewers have commented on the spa and gym.

There are ample meeting spaces which can be configured for large (probably 300) or small groups.

If you are looking for a good place for a group to meet, you'll be pleased here. The only thing that could have been better was internet access. But that is not entirely the hotel's fault. It's not very good anywhere in Antigua. If you're not in a group meeting with everyone trying to get online at the same time, you'll probably not notice.

Stayed a week as a timeshare getaway. Mom and daughter travelling together so we were a bit nervous to start out with and had Acova tours pick us up form the airport (very prompt). To get us going in Guatemala, we again used the travel agent in the hotel (Isabel at Acova tours) she organised 3 tours for us and we had the time of our lives - starting first with a walking tour of antigua, then a tour of lago atitlan and santiago, and finally we flew up to Tikal for a whirlwind one day tour. The rest of the week we walked through Antigua discovering unbelievably great restaurants and visited the textile museum and several ruins and of course shopping at Nim po.The hotel was beautiful and clean and had two very nice pools which I swam in daily. The restaurants served a variety dishes and the staff was extremely friendly . The front desk staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful and they helped us get a taxis in the evenings and organised a box lunch for our early morning trip to tikal. Staying at the Soleil la antigua was great place for an introduction to Antigua we felt safe and well taken care of. It was an unforgettable holiday that two non-spanish speaking ladies thouroughly enjoyed!
