I was dropped off at the Parque central when I first arrived to Antigua and I met the absolute best guide possible. He stayed with me and my boyfriend the whole day, took us on a tour of the city and then we went on a "not so touristy" tour of the city and got to see the city from a local's perspective. He also had the in's on great food and great entertainment. He was the guide of best dreams.

The plaza itself is amazing and beautiful, full of history and architectural beauty. There was live music and great street food when we arrived.

“Lovely park”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

The plaza was beautiful to visit and there were many sights to take in around the area. It is a great location to find shops, restaurants, etc. We were lucky to be visiting when there was an artist festival taking place. We also went there to meet for a walking tour of Antigua.

Wonderful central spot to connect with friends. Excellent people watching. Haven't visited once without meeting a new friend or two on the benches.

“Antigua should be proud!”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

In my opinion, our Plaza Grande in Patzcuaro is the prettiest plaza in all of Mexico, that I have seen. Antigua's plaza is prettier, and that's really saying something. Clean, bustling with activity and just downright beautiful! Could benefit from a few, tasteful sidewalk cafes, however.

“Like many others”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

You really won't be able to avoid visiting La Plaza. Antigua's not that big and all roads seem ultimately to lead there. Because of this it's always busy. There's a semi permanent book market and often musicians performing. Naturally, it surrounded by touristy places to eat or drink, you can get a horse drawn cab ride or pick up a guide - and on the plus side none of these are too pushy. So, that's it really. If this is your first Plaza, you'll love it. If you've already traveled a lot in Latin America or Southern Europe, then it's just another Plaza, but there are a lot worse!
