A complete hotel with a variety of type rooms surrounded by private church, museums, garden, fountains and restaurants...with friendly service and 1500-1600 ambiance. Just make sure to ask for a room with air conditioning!

It was a magnificent trip. My parents, brother and relatives decided to go to Antigua Guatemala for three days. We spent those days at the Rancho bungalow from Casa Santo Domingo - Santo Domingo del Cerro.

The place is beautiful and stunning. Full of gardens, nature, in the middle of several museum exhibitions and artsy creations. This part of Casa Santo-Domingo is located at Santo Domingo del Cerro (5 minutes by car from the hotel in the village).
What we loved the most from the Rancho Bungalow is: it has everything you wish (kitchen,fridge,coffee-maker, toaster, pans, kitchen utensils). You can buy all your groceries and prepare the food you wish at your convenient time.
On your way to Antigua Guatemala, there are several supermarkets, you can stop by any of them, and buy fresh groceries and food. We bought water at the Supermarket (Great Value Purified Drinking Water, 16.9 Fl Oz, 35 bottles) for 6 people, and it was enough for our consumption during the whole trip. Of course we rented a car, and that made the transportation easier to the village and surroundings.

We had the possibility to visit the Casa Santo Domingo Hotel Spa-amenities, pool, museums, and the restaurant. Even though I did not experience personally the new SPA, the hotel authorised me to take a tour around and see it. The spa facilities-pools are awesome. As similar to impressive european 5 stars spas!!!.

Do not forget to bring your swimming suit, because the pool is very nice.

It was a 5 stars choice. If I have to return to Antigua Guatemala with my fiancé Alex Guillermo Lozano Artolachipi, I hope he and I can stay at El Rancho-Casa Santo Domingo for at least 2 weeks. It was a beautiful stay. You are invited to return back.

Room tip: If you stay at Hotel Santo Cielo - Annex Casa Santo Domingo at Santo Domingo del Cerro, the best bungalow for a family is el Rancho.

Simply the best hotel for the money I have ever stayed at.

Remodelled Monestary that has kept all its old charm. Candles lighting the way with very relaxing music around much of the resort. Very nice, large, warm pool. Both meals we ate at the restaurant were fantastic. The best brunchI have ever had! We could picture monks staying in our room hundreds of years ago. Very unique hotel that was super value. The hotel was very happy to arrange our ride back to Guatemala City to catch our flight. Overall a great experience.

We would absolutely stay at Casa Santa Domingo if we go back to Antigua.

This is an excellent hotel. The staff is courteous and helpful. The hotel is spread out over an immense piece of land with ruins, crypts and fountains. It took us half a day to simply wander around the grounds and visit the various museums on the property. The restaurant is good, but not outstanding. As good as any other restaurant in Antigua. Since Antigua is a small town, being slightly out of centro was no problem. It was a six block walk to the center of town. I would definitely return.

Room tip: Try to get a ground floor room with a little patio. The will be a table and two chairs where you can sit with your coffee in the morning.

Hands down, best spa experience I've had. Gorgeous pools, jacuzzi nestled in large caves that look like they're surrounded by ruins, delicious food and drinks delivered poolside (try the basil panna cotta!), little chocolates and fruit-infused water self-served by the jacuzzis, and attentive staff! Ahhhhh, heaven!!! I am totally FLOORED by the beauty and magic of this place. Everywhere you look anywhere on the hotel grounds is detail, beauty, and history. We had a couples massage and it included a private salt bath, chocolate covered strawberries, and champagne after the massage. Masseuses were strong, detailed, and careful to maintain the relaxed experience. They didn't talk and massaged in unison. We didn't stay at the hotel, but I'd recommend it, especially for a romantic occasion. It's well-known that it is the best in Antigua. Book rooms on their site as their prices are actually more expensive in person. Some rooms include access to the spa and some don't. ($25 a person for spa access) The rooms that do include it offer discounts on spa services. Wherever you're staying, make a trip here even if it's just for a drink...you've got to see the beautiful hotel grounds!!
