Wow!
The site is just amazing. Just wandering through the maze of paths and taking a look at the art, the ruins, the candles everywhere, is a quite an experience...
The rooms are really nice too, big and airy, and with a local flair to them, even if they are a bit dated. We had 1 regular room and 1 suite and the suite was really much nicer. Which is normal...
I didn't give 5 stars only because of the breakfast: watered down juice, just not acceptable, and horrible ham I wouldn't dare feeding my dog with.
What a shame ...
And please, please, please, wifi Internet access should be FOC nowadays. 8 dollars per day, in Guatemala, you must be joking!
But if you come to visit Antigua, do not hesitate: the price for what you get in terms of accommodation is really worth it!

Thank you for your kind evaluation, we are glad to know that you enjoyed your visit to the archaeological area and museums. We are very compromised in providing the best service at the most competitive prices in relation to establishments of the same category; this is a continuous taks to ensure positioning in the local market. Regarding our food service, please feel sure that we only work with certified suppliers and our products are of the best quality.

I would rank this on par with the Monasterio at Cuzco. Excellent location and very lovely gardens. I specially enjoyed the fountains. We wish we had more time to spend here. The candle lit courtyards at night are almost magical. Would highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were large and comfortable, the grounds were incredible, and the staff friendly. There are workshops for artisans to view, a chocolate store, a museum, and the ruins of the old convent. I highly recommend this hotel.

It is really a rare opportunity to be a guest in a historic site. Santo Domingo is big enough that you don't feel that you are within the confinement of a typical hotel. You get lost walking around en get enchanted by the art work and the fantastic view of the mountains.

Our stay at Casa Santo Domingo was quite rewarding. The atmosphere is great, especially at night, with all those candles flicking. The pool was nice, the tea available close to the front desk a good excuse to relax in the manicured gardens and the museum worth the visit. The staff was efficient and friendly. The only negative aspect of this nice historical hotel was the numerous macaws that are held captive and displayed during the day in the central courtyard. Definitively NOT something you expect from a hotel that must cater to educated people that enjoy nature and care for the environment. They should follow the example that was set in Copan, where many macaws were set free and now live freely in the area. Please, clean your image and help those birds live the decent life they deserve.

Room Tip: There are long corridors all over. Avoid rooms with numbers ending in 01, such as 101

Thank you very much for your comment, we appreciate your concern for the biodiversity conservation.
As you may know, the reintroduction of macaws to the wild environment is complicated since aspects such as health, behavior and genetic must be considered. Also, we have to make sure that the threats that the species faces have been overcome. We are pleased to inform you that we work with an ex-situ conservation project that supports in-situ efforts such as the Wildlife Conservation Society in the Nation Park "Laguna del Tigre" in Petén. If you want to know more about this project, please don't hesitate to contact us.

You can't say this is beautiful or elegant. But you can say this is amazing and magnificent. Fireplace with real logs in each room and rustic furniture....beautiful swimming pool looking at the ruin. There is no dry sauna, only a steam room and a small gym, but who cares...you need to be outdoor to enjoy the amazing rustic view.

WOW! What an amazing experience. The grounds were like walking into a dream. I have never experienced a hotel with so much ambience as this one and I have been to a lot of top notch hotels. If you are looking for a romantic spot this is it. The stonework, art, candles, rose petals, music...pictures don't do it justice. We stayed in a beautiful suite with a fireplace and a hot tub. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. One word of advice and the only negative about this hotel- you may want to request a quiet room. Our first suite shared a wall with a nightclub next door so we heard Latin music until around midnight and we are early to bed people. The hotel was very accommodating in putting us in another beautiful suite and sent a lovely plate of fruit for our troubles...unfortunately the second suite was near the service entrance so we awoke to some banging, etc starting at about 4AM...I guess it wasn't in the cards for us to get good sleep this trip but we sure enjoyed falling asleep with the beautiful wood burning fireplace flickering.
If you go to the spa- FABULOUS!! Ask for Paola- it was the best massage I have ever had- totally relaxing- well worth the money
The food in the hotel- always wonderful- we enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the mornings and had a wonderful dinner at the hotel's restaurant on top of the mountain- what a view.
Thank you for a wonderful trip and next time I will make sure to get one of the "quiet rooms"! We will be back!

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a quiet room!!!!
