“must stop in to try the cacao tea”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

Great chocolate infused teas. Also ask for the traditional roasted corn/milk/spices that guatemalans drink. But I recommend having it strained b/c the corn is roasted and ground but still hard to drink. But worth the experience. Takes little time and worth the visit.

“Do the chocolate class!”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

a really fun and different thing to do - a chocolate cooking class. It only goes for 2 hours or, but you'll a lot about chocolate, its history and uses - and get to prepare your own chocolate from scratch, which you get to take home. I had a lot of fun and would def recommend it

“Wonderful little museum”
Reviewed January 29, 2012

Great little museum with an informative self guided tour of everything chocolate.. The complimentary samples are yummy as well! Didn't take the chocolate manufacturing/cooking class but it looked fun. Antigua needs more projects like this one; educational, informative, fun & well presented. With high quality CA products like coffee & cocoa, projects such as this one are
win win for all involved. Only complaint regarding the museum is that it casually glossed over the issue of child labor in the coffee fields, especially in Ivory Coast. The exhibit gave the impression that this issue was taken care of years ago by large intl chocolate/candy producers - however a recent documentary on CNN in January gives a slightly different & less rosy perspective on the ongoing problem of child labor in the cocoa fields of Africa.

“Worth my children's weight in chocolate!”
Reviewed January 27, 2012

You walk away with about 90Q of chocolate so that the 150Q you pay for the 2 hour workshop is really 60Q. My kids loved it and they will probably remember it more than the ruins. We also met some very fun and interesting people. (We have done the workshop twice!)

“Great Chocolate Workshop”
Reviewed January 24, 2012

If you are interested in learning about how chocolate is created from plant to package and have a few hours to spare, sign up for the workshop. For about $15 you get a private tour of the museum and have the opportunity to create your own chocolate. You roast your own cacao beans, pulverized them by hand, add your own ingredients, and end up with three bars of chocolate. Very interesting, great experience, and very fattening as well if you eat all three bars like I did.
