Owner description: We offer a variety of cultural, adventure and ecotourism tour packages in Guatemala with exciting itineraries designed for individual visitors, small and large groups. Due to our many years of experience in the travel industry, we offer competitive prices with no compromise on quality. We are highly recommended by our customers on Trip Advisor an award that recognizes the quality of our services and hard work and dedication of our team. In 2016, we decided to change our company name to Voltan Adventures. Voltan is the Mayan God of the Earth NOT to be confused with Votan (the Mayan God of War). Over the years our company has developed a stellar reputation as one of the best tour operators within Guatemala. Because our base of operations is at Lake Atitlan and our former company name was Tours Atitlan some people would confuse our company with a competitor whose name is similar. We noticed a trend. Numerous tour operators were incorporating the lake into their company name and this was leading to much confusion. Because our company is Mayan owned and locally operated we decided it would be best to embrace our culture and take a more distinctive name where there can be no confusion. So welcome to Voltan Adventures. To read about our company’s past reviews please see our customers Trip Advisor reviews under our old company name: Tours Atitlan, and after your trip with us, please post a review under our new name so we can begin a new tradition!

We had a great morning with Isaias birding around Lake Atitlan. We had already spent a few days there on our own, but he was quick and we were able to add even more new birds to our list. Excellent guide. Prepared. Bilingual. Fun!

My wife and I recently stayed at Lake Atitilan with the intentions of doing some birding and hiking. We had heard good things about Pedro, TAA's owner, and we attempted to book him on short notice to go birding. Unfortunately, he was not available, but he hooked us up with his younger brother, Isaias, and that turned out to be fantastic. Having had a few bad experiences during our short stay in Guatemala already, we decided to only book one day to begin with.

On our first day, Isaias picked us up from our resort on the lake and then we met the driver at the docks and headed to the birding spot. The destination was a private piece of property less than two hours away associated with a popular local restaurant, Restaurante Rincón Suizo. We arrived early, had a good breakfast and then hit the trail. The chief objective was to see the Pink-headed Warbler, and Isaias didn't disappoint. We saw in excess of 25 species of birds, including many varieties of warblers, including the beautiful Pink-headed fellow. We had good binoculars, but Isaias also brought a good sighting scope on a tripod for better viewing. Isaias has recently attended a training seminar in Guatemala hosted by the Audubon Society, and he really knew the local species and was very good at identifying the differences in birds even at a distance. All in all, it was a very pleasant day and we concluded it with a late lunch and plans to do another trip.

Since we were so pleased with Isaias, we contacted Pedro and asked if we could schedule another trip with him the following day. The second day, we went to Reserva Natural Privada Los Tarrales and the birding was nothing short of spectacular. While there, we were joined by a guide from Los Tarrales, Josue, who was a friend of Isaias' and also a recent graduate from the program hosted by the Audubon Society. We had a great time! It was very relaxed - both young men are very knowledgeable and both have a great sense of humor. We saw 55 species of birds, including my favorite bird of the entire trip - the Mottled Owl. Los Tarrales was really wonderful, and if you are in the region and appreciate birds, you should definitely book a trip through Pedro.

After spending two days with Isaias and dealing with Pedro, I highly recommend giving them a call if you want to do any eco-based activities. They do much more than just birding and they are very professional and a pleasure to deal with. Isaias was one of the best young guides we have had anywhere - and we are extensive travelers. It is refreshing that he truly appreciates nature and has an infectious energy about the birds of his country. Supporting companies like TAA and people like Pedro, Isaias and Josue is a great way to promote eco-friendly travel and an appreciation for nature in general.

Give them a try, you will not be disappointed!

My mom and I spent a full day with Isaias ("Chai") as he showed us all the ins and out of the Chichicastenango market place. We had just flown in from California the afternoon before and Chai was our first full taste of Guatemalan hospitality. He set the bar so high for the rest of our week long trip together.

From the moment Chai picked us up from our lodging at Villa Sumaya (incredible place), we knew we were in for a treat. Chai wore a huge smile and was clearly energized and prepared for our day. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area, having grown up on the shores of Lake Atitlan himself. He entertained our many questions and even had the upmost patience as my mom and I kept extending our shopping time. Chi chi is a mecca of Guatemalan handicrafts and can feel like sensory overload. I recommend taking your time inhaling the sights and sounds.

He gave us an insider's perspective too of Guatemalan traditions at the nearby cemetery, showed us best cheese and tortilla pairing, and was happy to pose for pictures.

We recommend highly Chai and his brother's company. We felt we were afforded an authentic experience with a most profession, personal and safe company.

Thank you!

We booked a private day tour with Tours Atitlan. Our tour boat arrived promptly at our hotel's dock and we met our guide Deena and boat pilot Andreas. Our day visiting San Juan and Santiago was perfectly organized. Deena was completely focused on what WE wanted to see and experience, not what she wanted us to do. Our day was interesting and well-paced. Deena was clearly popular with shop keepers, artists, restaurant personnel who greeted her warmly. We strongly recommend Tours Atitlan for its superior and top quality service provided by Deena and Andreas..

We did the day tour visiting San Juan and Santiago. It was an amazing day and so interesting to see the different villages as they are complete opposites. Our tour guide was awesome - informative and friendly but kept us going. Everything was well organised and good communication. We got transfer to and from Antigua for the day. Highly recommend
