During a two week stay working in small villages around Antigua, I had the opportunity to eat at the Rainbow Cafe three times. Each was for a different meal (lunch, dinner and breakfast) and each meal was amazing. The food is amazing including the freshly squeezed orange juice which actually tastes like oranges. I had three different types of food (ie greek sandwich, chicken fajitas and the typical Guatemalan breakfast) and all were very tasty and good portions. The atmosphere is obviously set for the expat crowd but the food is authentic.

This is where gringos meet to eat well (several vegetarian options), meet, use their computers, listen to music and also to presentations from local NGOs (non-govermental organizations). Owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. The bookstore out front offers used and new books—mostly in English but also in Spanish, German...Buy a book and you might get free coffee!

We ate breakfast here one morning and had drinks one evening during happy hour. The breakfast was really good. It's a lot of food that is very tasty, and the price includes fresh squeezed juice and coffee. The fried plantains are excellent. Going for happy hour was much less satisfying, thus I wouldn't recommend going here for anything other than breakfast. Our mojitos were not that good and although breakfast prices are economical, it seemed that lunch and dinner were much less so. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and free wifi are pluses.

We ate a supper and breakfast at Rainbow Café. All of the food was good—chicken sandwich, grilled vegetable sandwich, pancakes, eggs with beans. The atmosphere is very laid back and family friendly. The service was very good and the wait staff were very personable.

Mayan cultural books, spanish literature, art, chocolate, music, food, café, beer, fair-trade products and gifts.

Very diverse food menu.
Huge portions.
Super ambiance...
Live music.

Really relaxed atmosphere.
Just 2 blocks west of central square.

They do have daily food specials too.

Very kind and helpful staff.

The notice board in the café has a broad selection of activities in and around La Antigua.
