Good vibe here, friendly helpful staff, seems to always be happy hour at the bar, guests are constantly flitting in and out, the hammocks are always being made the most of, and the showers are big, warm and clean. There was some noise from the street but otherwise was a good nights sleep in the dorm.

I planned to stay at El hostal for only one night this time in Antigua, however I ended up staying four. The dorms are 80Q (which I know is above the normal price) but the showers and the breakfast alone were worth that! The dorms are clean and they make your bed for you each day. The hot water showers were probably the best that I have had since I started traveling in Central America. The breakfast was fantastic also, I think there were four different options for you to choose from.

The guests at the hostel seemed to all be in transit for another place when I was there so if you were traveling solo it might have been difficult to make new friends. Thats not the hostels fault, just bad timing really. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: The front dorm could be a little noisy at night as it is street facing.

This is an amazing hostel. It's cheap, the breakfast is amazing and free and the location is perfection. We stayed in both a dorm and a private room and were equally pleased with both. It felt very safe and is right across the street from a very fun bar in the area. I highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Dorms are fine. Private rooms are fantastic.

Such a beautiful place! Met life long friends here, wonderful atmosphere. You can't beat the breakfast and the hot showers. The staff, Carlos in particular, are super helpful. He went above and beyond his job title to make sure my travel mate and I had a good experience in not only the hostel but the rest of our travels in the country. Even helped retrieve my backpack when he definitely did not need to. Super helpful and the perfect place to stay in Antigua. Not to mention it's right next door to Cafe No Se!

This is by far my favorite hostel of all time. The staff are incredibly kind and friendly. They are willing to help with any issue and are also great people to talk to and hang out with. They are also really patient with your needs and with helping you to learn Spanish. The actual hostel is wonderful too. The beds are comfortable and you get clean sheets every day. There is hot water and an AMAZING free breakfast. There's also a nice common area with happy hour every night. This hostel has a great vibe and attracts fun, interesting, friendly people. It's not too loud or rowdy, but still social with a great bar across the street. I would recommend this hostel to anyone coming to Antigua, it's the best!
