When I arrived, I thought the hotel was charming, and the room seemed very nice, but it was downhill from there onwards:

The first night I was kept company by ants in my bed, and as I am a light sleeper, it seemed like every twenty minutes that I was awakened by a tickling as something crawled over me; and I did check they were ants and nothing more sinister.
The rooms were mostly very dark due to small windows. Mine had big French windows, but every single person in the hotel had to pass my room to get to theirs so I had to keep the curtains shut all the time for privacy, resulting in a dark room too.
My room had 2 very tiny windows but due to both the thick curtains and the additional blackout curtains provided, it was hard to open the window and get some fresh air into the room, so at night the room was stuffy and suffocating. Other guests said they had the same experience.
I asked the reception to quote me for round trip cost to the airport, which they did, but when it came to paying they charged me double as at that point they said the cost was one way only.
I left the Sunday before Easter Week, a big event in Antigua, with lots of festivities resulting in roads being closed, etc. The hotel wanted me to leave for the airport at 5am for a 2pm flight with a normal transfer time of 45 minutes. After talking to some locals they suggested a more sensible time to leave would be 9am and I should have no trouble getting out. So I entered into some lengthy discussions with the reception and asked them to arrange a cab at 9am, and in the event that we easily got out of the city could they get the cab driver to plan some place to take me. They said there were some good museums and a good craft market to go to if I have time to kill. We got out, to within 5 minutes of the airport within 35 minutes, so when I asked the cab driver where he had arranged to take me as we were early, he said the hotel had only asked him to take me to the airport and nothing was planned. So I ended up spending 4 hours in the tiny local airport.
A week before I had arrived in Antigua I had emailed the reception and asked them to book me on an excursion to Chichicastenango market which is only held on Thursdays and Sundays. As I was leaving on the Sunday I had to go on the Thursday if at all. I had no response to my email the next day, so I wrote again, again no response. So the next day I resent the email 5 times, and I got a reply to say it would be booked, but no message to say it had been booked. When I arrived at the hotel late on Wednesday night I discovered that the trip had not been booked, which resulted in my having to take a private tour which set me back $100 instead of the anticipated $20.
So all in all instead of paying the hotel an anticipated $55 ($35 for the round trip airport transfer and $20 for the market), I ended up paying them $170, with which I was not happy.
So all in all the hotel has potential but the service needs to improve 1000 fold before I would recommend it to anyone.

the hotel is fantastic - i never felt so home far away from home...the hotel is really small and hard to spot, but the interior is gorgeous. it lacks the patio and a full-scale restaurant which is usual for Antigua, but if you like to go out for the dinners it's a place to stay. stuff is friendly and breakfasts are good. wifi is working in the toilets only in the rooms located in the middle of both corridors - if you need it take the rooms either closer to reception or the restaurant
