La Villa Serena is a very beautiful small hotel that treats you like a king with the best food in all of Antigua. I ate several meals there and all were excellent. My room was clean and very comfortable and I really enjoyed all of the abundant green plants. Very professional and top rate in every way.

Room Tip: I liked down stairs to avoid having to climb the stairs but there was also a great view from the second floor if stairs posed no problem.

if you like to eat, the owner is a food person. she is quite knowledgeable about restaurants in antigua. she serves a nice little breakfast that is a cut above what you will find in the smaller b&b style places in antigua. always a variety.

she likes to talk so careful about starting a conversation! =D the facilities are quite nice with roof top access. they don't have a night guard (or at least didn't when we were there june 2011).

we like a secluded place and this fits the bill. they are only 10-15 minutes walk from the center, so it's not bad. we like quiet and serenity (serena?). the rooms are nice with a bit of variety in style and design.

we were in antigua again this year and couldn't stay there, to our disappointment. however we stayed with a another local hotel owned by a friend of hers. turned out nicely and we made more friends.

when we were there, we were the only guests and she had some time to spend with us. she drove us to lake atitlan for a day trip and showed us some very nice places along the way. it was a very pleasant trip and more convenient than by bus (of course!).

Our stay at La Villa Serena was the week before Semana Santa. We were able to enjoy alfombras on the streets on Palm Sunday weekend and already in churches and so enjoyed the energy of Lent and Antigua at it's best, but before it gets too busy and Gold prices on accommodations. Our stay at Villa Serena was perfect and the price was very reasonable for the quality establishment with a special on 4 nights. The owner, Marina, is a wealth of knowledge and guided us to places and sites that would align with our interests and her intuition on that was perfect. She helped focus our days and we also had many spontaneous improvised adventures as well. La Villa Serena has delicious breakfasts, customized for our dietary preferences, the bed was cozy and comfortable with sufficient blanket/comforter for cool evenings in Antigua and many beautiful spots to enjoy some quiet down time after exploring Antigua. Highly recommend and will return if and when we're back in Antigua.

Clean room with en suite, very friendly hostess spoke good English, lots of recommendations for eats, nice courtyard, decent breakfast choice of tipico or pancakes. A good 15/20 minute walk to centre of Antigua. Nice rooftop area, very quiet part of town.

We had the pleasure of staying with Marina 2/13 - 2/15/2012 she is a wealth of knowledge and will set up travel, tours etc....anything you need. Very comfortable, clean and safe setting. Complimentary breakfast and personal attention. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.
