A dear friend and fellow trip advisor member from Michigan knowing that I am an avid music lover suggested that my husband and I would enjoy a visit to the Music House Museum, and she was not wrong.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about all of the exhibits, as well as providing an excellent historical background on all of the various rare instruments in the museum. And on a personal level, I received a special thrill to see a nickelodeon on display in the museum that I remembered from my days spent as a child vacationing in Cape May, New Jersey.

We were advised that the tour would last approximately 90 minutes, but our tour lasted over 2 hours. However, it was a very pleasant way to spend the morning and well worth the price of admission.

We stopped as I had read really great reviews, and we certainly weren't disappointed. I had expected a self-guided tour through the exhibits, but we were pleased to have a guide with such a wealth of knowledge. The history of the pieces was the most interesting part of the visit, and you wouldn't really get that with a self-guided tour.
We did notice a family with pre-teens and teens got bored and left early, so it may not be to everyone's liking.

We were taken here by our tour director - not because we had ever heard of it before.
But - what a wonderful place this is!!
The gentleman who was the docent gave an excellent explanation of the various instruments and other little goodies. We heard exactly how George Gershwin composed his Rhapsody in Blue.
In addition, we saw and heard an old player piano, music hall organ, stringless violin and many other fascinating objects. Well done!!

Our group of 29 had a wonderful educational tour complete with several demonstrations. The gift shop was a wonderful surprise. There were so many unique gift items related to automated music. I rarely buy items in gift shops, but this was an exception.

Husband and wife had a very good tour and appreciated the deep knowledge and love of music of the docents. The tours are all guided and once here one realizes it is the only way to really to be able to hear the many instruments demonstrated. We are already planning to come back with another couple. The idea that music should be appreciated by all, whether one played or not, whether one could afford an instrument or not, whether on could go to concerts or not, over time...it was a very thought provoking tour. We are Western Michigan people so we had driven past this museum many times on the way to other places (the U.P., the Mac Bridge, etc.). We has a Texas plate and an Ohio plate on our way in. Our tour was about 20 people, very nice size. Oh, and there were 2 wheelchairs and we were glad to use one of those.
