I lived in Michigan for 30 years and never knew about this hidden gem until a recent trip to Traverse City. Now I recommend it to everyone. Where else in the world is there a museum quite like this? An astonishing collection of every mechanical music contraption spanning over 100 years, all very well-kept and sounding glorious. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about every item and the history of music devices. We spent a lovely afternoon taking it all in. Don't miss their silent film shows with live music accompaniment - lots of laughs for the whole family.

I've been here several times. It's a good place to rent if you're having a party or catered dinner, and the show the docents put on is really quite interesting. It's fun to see how everything works--old piano rolls, mechanical fiddles, and many other wonders. Plan to take the guided tour!

The music box is a beautiful home that has been converted into a museum for automated music makers. Even if you have little interest in music or machinery, this museum is very interesting, and surprisingly entertaining. There are only guided tours, with the guides activating the machines and explaining them. If you go at a slower time, you will probably get the guide to yourself, and a personal tour.

This is a sweet museum with very interesting music related items and instruments from around the world. You'll enjoy this Museum. They often have special events and activities, too. Check it out! It's right near the Grand Traverse Hotel in Acme, near Traverse City.
