The music box is a beautiful home that has been converted into a museum for automated music makers. Even if you have little interest in music or machinery, this museum is very interesting, and surprisingly entertaining. There are only guided tours, with the guides activating the machines and explaining them. If you go at a slower time, you will probably get the guide to yourself, and a personal tour.

“A Hidden Treasure”
Reviewed January 18, 2012

This is a sweet museum with very interesting music related items and instruments from around the world. You'll enjoy this Museum. They often have special events and activities, too. Check it out! It's right near the Grand Traverse Hotel in Acme, near Traverse City.

“Great Powerful Music”

Huge organs. You wouldn't believe that these powerful instruments are sitting in an old well-kept barn in Northern Michigan!

“What a surprise!!”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

Even though a friend had raved about it, our expectations were exceeded. We got a great private do to the luck of the timing of our visit so I am guessing that our experience was a bit unusual in that respect...if you like music history this is a must see.

“You'll see things you've never seen before”

The Music House is a place like no other. There are music machines from all over the world and many will amaze you. You will be taken on a guided tour and allowed to hear the music and see the movements of the machine. They are well cared for and well lit. This is a treasure. Don't miss it.
