“Great inn in the heart of Nantucket town”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

I recently stayed for one night at the manor house and was pleasantly surprised. I stayed with my two small children on the second floor in a king room and it was huge, tastefully decorated with antique furniture and a giant four poster bed. The location and room rates can't be beat--it is right in the middle of town and all shopping, restaurants and galleries are just steps from the door. The only drawback was the bathroom, which was spotlessly clean but definitely dated. The common areas were beautiful and had been recently updated, and there is a gorgeous garden courtyard. I did not have their breakfast, because just around the corner on India Street is the fabulous Black Eyed Susan's. We scored the outside table and everything was delicious. The inn is a short walk from the ferry, just head up Main Street and take a right at the bank. One tip for first timers--definitely head to the Cisco Brewery, even with kids! Live music starts at 4, bring your own snacks/appetizers and enjoy a great night. As for the inn, you're not going to find more for your money with this location.

This is a quaint inn with lovely owners.

Our room (in the Manor House next door) had a Queen bed, but it was teeny-teeny. But the room was spotlessly clean and recently redecorated. The major drawback was that the caulking around the tub looked filthy but the mold just keeps staying ahead of the cleaning. We are neatniks and we were distressed when we first saw it, but everything was spotless. The rooms do have A/C even though the website does not mention. Bathrooms are also very dark. Breakfast is OK, basic pastries, some everything bagels (only variety) some cold cereals, fruit, yogurt and coffee and tea. The owmers really care about the place and the guests...they will try to address any and all concerns.

My recommendation for breakfast is walk to the right to an incredible bakery half a block away on the right. It opens at 7 and has bagels and incredible muffins. Go straight for the muffins and you must get the coffee cake muffin. Great start to the day.

Room Tip: The Queen Rooms can be very tiny...we would opt for a king

We stayed at this Inn for 2 nights during a romantic getaway to Nantucket. We both had never been to the island, and weren't sure what to expect. The Roberts House Inn was perfect for what we intended to do while in Nantucket. We stayed in room 204, which had a large bed and private bath. It was plenty spacious for the two of us, as we packed light due to not taking our car over on the ferry. We only stayed two nights, and the room was cleaned after the first night while we were out in town. The inn is located in the middle of town, close to everything we wanted to see. Couldn't have asked for more, it was exactly what we needed for out trip.

The hotel/inn staff were friendly, knowledgable of the area and seem to have a sincere desire to be helpful. However, the room (104) we occupied was small the bathroom outdated. The room attendant didn't make up the beds completely and never bothered to fix the window coverings from the night before. Would not recommend and would definetely not stay here again

The staff were all friendly and helpful, even before we arrived when I contacted them for information about Nantucket. The room was clean and comfortable. We were chilly the first night and then discovered a portable heater in the closet. Excellent location for walking to all the attractions of the town. Breakfast fare was similar to that offered in other hotels, and is served in a cosy room in the basement. I'd definitely go back again.

Roberts House is clean and comfortable, but it is certainly not spacious or luxurious. It is a converted home, so the rooms vary a great deal in size and comfort. You need to check out the particular room that you are renting. The location is right down town and within walking distance to all downtown stores and attractions.

Room Tip: First floor rooms are the most spacious and comfortable. Talk to the manager when you book. Noise i...

We stayed in a room on the first floor that the manager said was in need of updating and she was right. We stayed there because the rooms upstairs all had beds that you needed a two step ladder to climb into and they were not suitable. Nor did any of the descriptions on line speak about this. Nor did the manager mention it when we were deciding by email what room to book. The bathroom of the room we stayed in had a sink that was about 4" by 8" and really difficult to use. Breakfast was ok and the afternoon tea was a plate of cookies. I knew more than the manager what restaurants were open; she was chatty (too chatty?) and pleasant but not terribly efficient or knowledgeable. The Centerboard for us next time!
