We learned that you can be anyone you want to be at Fog Island Cafe because they have fun allowing you to use any name for the wait list. Their clam chowder was one of the best we've had this week. It offered a perfect balance of cream, clams, and potatoes. We all wanted more. Their Nantucket Fishcakes were excellent. Their service was very efficient and attentive. Years ago we were given a Fog Island Cafe cookbook and today were very happy to finally have an opportunity to sit down and try the real thing.

We had a late breakfast here before going to the airport; it was a great ending to our week in Nantucket. We had a short wait outside; the person managing the wait list was polite and friendly (we commented that the rude man who does the same job at The Jetties restaurant, also on Nantucket, should take lessons from this gentleman). Our waiter was outstanding -- friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The food was delicious! Absolutely perfect eggs benedict and a really good fresh fruit bowl (no bland melon which is what most restaurants serve). The others with me also thought their food was excellent. Now I wish I didn't have to wait a whole year to eat here again but this will be one of our first stops when we go back to Nantucket next summer.

A friendly waitress took our name for the first available table and we were waiting by the front door until another waitress saw us and barked at us to get outside. As we waited on the sidewalk dodging pedestrians and raindrops, we saw the rules posted for customers who were waiting for a table. There was no please or thank you (as in 'Please wait outside'), just a list of rules telling you that if you wandered too far and didn't hear them calling you, then you would lose your place and not be seated. We were called after ten minutes and luckily had the nice waitress. The music was blaring (and I mean blaring) above our table (we couldn't hear each other without yelling) and our waitress offered to turn it down without being asked, which was a big relief until someone turned it up again. The food was okay, but over seasoned with too many competing flavors. The ginger slaw tasted almost medicinal from too much vinegar. My tuna salad was loaded with tarragon (which I like), but someone who doesn't like it would have a had time because the taste was overpowering. I was so glad we got the nice waitress because the people at the next table had the rude one and seemed put off.

I know August and raining day can be hard on nantucket but we are the customer and help pay your wage. On a better note clam chowder is the best anywhere. And good sandwiches ,soups and salads. Always good food. Check this service to bad weather and in the weeds. Always will go back

We grabbed a quick breakfast here on the way out of town. Menu had all the basics plus lots of different scrambles, which I love! I had the Portuguese, which had carmelized onions, spinach, cheese, and Portuguese sausage...yummy! Their home fries were really good too, but you can get black beans instead.

Cute atmosphere, good service, & family friendly! Prices weren't too bad either. We'll be back for lunch or dinner another time!
