We sat upstairs in the smaller seating 'area'. It was just a bunch of folding chairs in rows on a raised platform. Very cheap set up for the money we paid for the ticket. Considering the place was recently renovated, we expected a regular theater seat, not a folding chair, to sit on during our movie.

The Dreamland is the only full-service movie theater on the island. Long a landmark, the theater was shut for many years as it was in dire need of renovation and no suitable parties could be found. Finally the Dreamland Theater Foundation was founded to completely rebuild this antique building that has housed so much Nantucket history in its various forms over the years. The theater was expanded to have two screening areas, stages for theater productions and public meeting rooms. A wonderful effort, I only gave it a 4 rating because of the relatively small size of the main screen and the discomfort of the seats.

We have been to the theater there other years and have enjoyed it, but this time didn't think to buy tickets in advance for the movie, so unfortunately when we wanted tickets, the movie was sold out. Because there was a special tribute to Michael Douglas and Robert DiNiro the weekend we were there, there was nothing playing at all. If you want to see a movie, be sure to buy your tickets early and be sure there is something scheduled. It's a very small theater, and the tickets go fast, especially on a rainy day.

This theatre was just finished a few years ago. The seats are tight, the upstairs sceening room has directors chairs. The festival was vey well run, they run a great ship. Nice Island theatre for a rainy day.
