Very affordable and clean. Shuttle service goes into the downtown of Nantucket every hour and there are two restaurants within walking distance. Staff was extremely courteous and the complementary buffet was excellent. I would definitely stay here again. We did not check out the spa or workout room.

When we researched B&B's on the island it was difficult to find any that had two beds in a room. When we found one that did, we found out the rooms had no bathrooms and we had to go down an entire floor to use the bathroom or shower and it was shared with others. We found the Nantucket Inn and got a room with 2 queen beds and our own private bathroom in our room for a better rate. The hotel is across the street from the airport and 3 mikes from town, but they provide shuttle rides to town every hour and they will take you to Surfside Beach. There are two good restaurants nearby:; one in the airport and A K Diamonds just down the street. The Inn also famous for their Mom's Breakfast buffet.
POOLS: There are 2 pools; outside and indoors. The indoor pool is heated, very large, and 8 feet deep. A hot tub is indoors as well and towels are provided. The hotel and lobby is immaculate, beautifully decorated and welcoming. You feel you are someplace special when you walk in the front door.
SERVICE: The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. We got there early afternoon and were told our room wasn't ready yet, but they would call us when there was one ready. An hour later while sitting in the lobby chairs we were asked if we were waiting for a room. We said yes and she said she would check. She got us a room within minutes. We were ready to go to town after we had settled into our room and the shuttle had just left 2 minutes before we got there. The woman at the desk came out and said she called the driver and he was coming back to pick us up so we didnt have to wait for another hour!
ROOM: The room was immaculate, very nice decor and colors. The bathroom has an extra sink and vanity outside the bathroom so two people can be getting ready at the same time. Everything has a resort beach look. The hotel rooms are exterior entrances but they look like long cottages withe the aged cedar shakes and white trim. The buildings are only 2 stories tall andcthevlandscaping outside of our room was beautiful with shade trees and nicely maintained gardens. The beds are comfortable with 4 pillows on each bed. Our room had three windows, rare in most hotels.
Don't let the distance from town keep you from staying here! The bike rental shops will deliver bikes to the hotel and the bike paths are wide, paved, and run all along the main roads. The shuttlesvrun regularly and if you want to use the busvtransit, mtge bus stop is less than a block away. This is a first class establishment and an excellent deal with top notch service.

Room Tip: The first building behind the main lobby building is close to shuttle and has a gorgeous courtyard.

Wow tc! That's quite a review - but don't get us wrong, we love it! More than anything else we wanted to highlight your comment about "being someplace special when you want in the door". We like to think that the little personal touches and details along with the friendly smiles of the staff make what could be a very ordinary hotel - an extraordinary experience! Thank you so much and we can't wait for your next visit.

Stayed two nights with my wife 9/15 & 9/16. Picked hotel for perceived value. We knew the weather was going to be very nice and they were heavily promoting their outdoor and indoor pools. Turns out the outdoor pool was closed. Even though outdoor pool was their lead photo on the website was told that the site never said it was still open. Indoor pool became Plan B. Problem is that they use it for kids birthday parties. If a bunch of screaming kids is part of your relaxing day, then you won't mind it. We did.

On the pro side the staff is excellent. Went out of their way to help you. Buffet breakfast was one of the best we have had. If you are flying into the Island you can walk across the street to the hotel.

Otherwise hotel is about 3 miles from the ferry. There is not anything within walking distance so you will be living on the shuttles into town for food and shopping.

Bottom line: Would stay at one of the cheaper B&B's near town or go with a slightly more expensive option if you are looking for a pool (some are open through September) if you come in the early offseason.

Thanks John! We appreciate your comments - especially about the breakfast buffet and the staff. We can't change our location and hope that all of our guests (and readers) understand that the Nantucket Inn is not in the historic district! But most of our guests find the shuttle service to be very handy and three-acre resort setting to be a welcome relief from the congestion of the downtown. Regarding the outdoor pool, we would just like to clarify that this was a seasonal closing that is in-line with our normal wrap up to the summer season. We have addressed the issue on our website in order to provide more clarity to future guests. Thanks again John.

Our family, which includes a 2 and half year old and a 16 month old, just got back from a vacation in Cape Cod and Nantucket. We stayed at this hotel because the price was half of what the other hotels were charging and we were very pleasantly surprised by the service and facilities. The grounds are right next to the airport but this area is not scenic and there isn't much in terms of stores and restaurants. The hotel makes up for this drawback with constant shuttles to town and to the ferry terminals. The free hot breakfast was excellent. My one complaint is that a few of the employees were a tad unprofessional, but I chalk it up to this being the end of a long vacation season for them. Most of the employees were very friendly and helpful.

Thank you Siaro! We appreciate your concise and accurate review. I must apologize for your negative interactions with some of our staff. It has been a long and busy summer season but that is not an excuse for poor customer service. Please be assured that we share all of this information (and more) with all of our staff and managers as we are always looking for feedback to better our performance. Thank you again. We look forward to you and your families' next visit.

Just returned from a week family vacation on lovely Nantucket Island...we went just before Labor Day when the island is a little less crowded. We took the Hy-Line High Speed ferry over to the island and met up with the van service that the Nantucket Inn provides. First impression very nice large vans to accommodate passengers and all of our luggage and secondly, you are met and welcomed by "hello man" , from an employee of the Nantucket Inn who is from Jamaica and has worked at the Inn for the past 17 summers! Talk about someone who quickly educated us about the island and places to go and visit as well as shop and eat. Speaking of which a must is The Whale Museum! Anyway, a short ride later you arrive at the very attractive Nantucket Inn which is really a number of buildings that make up a cottage feeling. The rooms are spaceous and clean and the landscapping and grounds are most attractive. But the best part are the loyal and dedicated employees, many long term employees from Jamaica, who work at the Nantucket Inn and who create a wonderful vacation environment for all of the guests including a wonderful welcome each day, providing an amazing buffet breakfast in the morning, cocktails and bites at the bar and at the pool, and that relaxing sense being on an island. I can't rate the hotel and vacation experience more highly.

Room Tip: any of the rooms are great...we liked the cottages there are six of them and also the rooms with the...

Thanks Murph! We agree that our long-serving, friendly and smiling, happy staff really make the difference here at the Nantucket Inn. And after reading these reviews and many other letters and comments, we know that many, many of our guests agree. Thanks to all of you for recognizing them - we wouldn't want it any other way! Thank you.
(we must make two minor corrections to Murph's room tips - first, the rooms with 2 beds are full/doubles not queen beds and second, the free shuttle runs to all the major destinations but does stick to a schedule and isn't able take you "anywhere on the island")

We have 3 young kids and stayed here and totally loved it. In the past, we have stayed at cottages - which means you have to bring your own things, arrange your own meals, and cleanup when you leave. In addition, you need to find things for your kids to do.

Little did we know, this is the PERFECT location to eliminate all of those headaches and pay less doing it.

You wake up - have a delicious breakfast provided by the Inn, then the kids want to hop in either the indoor or the outdoor pool for a while, one of my wife or I would sit by the pool - read the paper, etc while the other might prepare some lunch or think about where to go for it. You collect the kids, drive someplace (beach, etc) - come back and your room is totally cleaned. The kids then go to the pool again or play some other game (billiards) - you relax, do a light dinner - put the kids to sleep; and then have some drinks and snacks in one of the courtyards to enjoy the beautiful island air and night sky.

totally stress free vacation.

The Inn has fantastic staff, the rooms are great - with a real 'Nantucket look' - shingles, etc. The shuttle service is very convenient. Everyone is friendly.

Nantucket itself is a bit expensive - but sooo much more relaxed and so much more less crowded than the mainland Cape Cod. After a few years of renting a cottage on the Cape, I *know* the our kids will remember this vacation for a long time since they had so much fun from beginning to end - all due to the Inn, the amenities they provide, and the relaxed nature of the island itself.

Thanks John R! We love it when when guests like you point out the obvious advantages of a visit to the Nantucket Inn - even the ones we sometimes forget! And yes! Nantucket is expensive. But as someone smarter than us, once said " Price is what you pay, Value is what you get". (Warren Buffett) Thanks again, we are happy to be part of some great family memories!

I just got back from a few days at the Nantucket Inn. I have been there many times before and it only gets better each visit.

The hotel is lovely, comfortable and especially reasonable on this expensive island. The General manager, Scott Thomas, has been there for years and does a superlative and professional job. The staff, many of them Jamaican, who come up for the season, have worked there for years as well and take such pride in the inn and welcoming their guests. I can't say enough about how great the employees are. They are so warm and take care of your every need. They are friendly, competent and extremely hospitable.I always tip them for a job well done and recommedn you do too..

You don't need to stay in town where it's more crowded and costly. The inn has free shuttle service that goes every hour all day and into the late evening to take you into town or the beaches and pick you up when you're ready to return. This negates the need for a car where it most always is heavy traffic during the summer months, not to mention pricey.

The inn has a full and delicious buffet breakfast (Mom's) and you can sit outside to enjoy the nice weather. There is a cozy inside bar with TV where you can chat with the bartender, Wyndell, who knows everyone. The inn also has arrangements with 3 restaurants ( Town, AK Diamonds and Queequegs) where you can get dinner vouchers. I have eaten at the first two and was very pleased with the food, service and decor. AK Diamonds also delivers to the outside/indoor pools or your room so you don't have to go out to lunch or dinner if you feel like relaxing.Of course there are many options for dining, but we like these 3 plus Arnos who also has been affiliated with the inn.

This is a wonderful place for families, couples and older folks as there is a game room, tennis and of course the pools. There is free use of the computer and WiFi. Wedding and conference facilities are also on site. I like that it is located across from the airport so flying there is convenient and easy. If you take the Steamship Ferry, the inn shuttle will pick you up and drop you off.

Try this place out, I think you'll love it like I do!
