“Best B&B on Nantucket!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2008

What a charming place!! We have stayed at 10 different B&B's on Nantucket over the past 12 years and this by far was the best! Sally is a breath of fresh air and a wealth of information. The breakfast was exquisite and the rooms are warm and welcoming. EVERYTHING was perfect. Everything you would want in a "home away from home". We will be back!!!

This was my second trip to the Cliff House, and I can't wait for the next time. What better way to spend a relaxing, romantic weekend, than curled up on the couch in a room from the pages of Elegant Homes, by a roaring fire, and eating homemade chocolate walnut cookies. When ready to venture out, Sally has fantastic recommendations for dining and exploring the island. She's always there at the right time, and yet, let's you feel as if you are the only one in the house when you want your privacy. Even in the winter, the widow's walk is a magnificent place to capture the spectacular ocean/island view, and in the summer it's where you want to watch the sunset with a glass of wine.

Thank you, Sally for a wonderful weekend.

3rd time staying at Cliff Lodge. Extremely friendly, bend-over-backwards innkeep who makes you feel at home. Great place for winter sit-by-the-fire romantic escape. Quick walk to town and staff is extremely engaging but not invasive if you're looking for peace and quiet.

Sally, the innkeeper, is the most gracious and friendly hostess you could want running a bed and breakfast. Her open and relaxed personality invited guests to mingle. She knew I was traveling on my own and asked me to join her and others for a cook-out at the Lodge. Not only did I have a wonderful time, but the other guests and I repeated the experience the next night. Sally's staff maintains a beautifully clean Inn and the bedrooms are charmingly decorated. The breakfast boasts a delicious seasonal fruit salad and superb baked goodies, such as scones or fruit filled pastries. My stay at Cliff Lodge will remain a highlight of my Nantucket visit.

It's like staying at grandma's. Very sweet owner. Baked cookies/treats each afternoon. Room was clean. Beautiful artwork/antiques. Cozy. Room was very very small. Bathroom had a slider. With some refurbishing could be lovely. A hidden attic door led to a stellar view from the widows walk/tight space but worth the trek up. A little outside of town. Very quiet. Didn't get to try breakfast. Was a decent place to stay.

My family and I booked the Cliff Lodge for my son's wedding weekend and we couldn't have been happier. We found the other guests to be very friendly - especially the innkeeper, Sally. Having breakfast - wonderful fruit, pastries, scones, granola, juice and coffee - on the patio started the day off on a real pleasant note. At the end of our busy days it was nice to come back to the inn and have fresh baked cookies waiting for us. There was also a wine and cheese party on Friday night. The parlors were very pleasant and a perfect place for the ushers in my son's wedding to congregate and have their pictures taken. The whole place was clean and fresh and a I look forward to a return visit.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Cliff Lodge on the recommendation of a friend. We have been going to Nantucket for several years and have stayed at lots of B&B's, so we were curious to try another one. We were not disappointed! We were warmly greeted by the innkeeper, Sally, who got us settled in our room and then gave us a tour of the cozy and intimate inn. The first thing I noticed was how immaculate the place was. And beautiful! Sally couldn't have been more helpful in helping us decide how we wanted to spend our few days on the island. After spending the day at the Whaling Museum and shopping we returned just in time for afternoon tea. The scones were to die for! We collasped for a short nap before going out for dinner, but it was hard to leave our room. The room (Room #2-and others) had been recently renovated and was beautiful and luxuious with a kingsize bed and fireplace.. The next morning we took our breakfast on the pretty patio filled with flowers and had the most delicious breakfast. The view of Nantucket Sound is another plus of staying at the inn. You can enjoy watching the boats and you can see the ferry coming into the harbor. And a trip to the roof walk was fun too. I could imagine what it must have felt like to be a whaling captain's wife anxiously looking out to sea in hopes of seing her husband returning after a long journey at sea! My friend told us they book up quickly for Christmas Stroll so before checkout we made our reservation to return. We couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.

  • Liked — innkeeper, immaculate, views, food, accomodations, i.e. rooms and parlor
  • Disliked — everything was perfect!
