WONDERFUL experience!!!! The scones and peanut butter chip cookies alone would be worth the stay. But the rooms are GORGEOUS, Lee (the manager) is LOVELY. We asked for a bit of water and she brought out an amazing spread. The beds are pure ecstacy you don't sleep, you float!!! It felt so like a home away from home and very down to earth and at ease. LOVELY porch an everything was really warm, welcoming and comfortable. I was there with two teenage girls and they were as at home as I was, and loved the environment too! The entire breakfast spread was wonderful and the scones are TO DIE FOR...as well as the cookies...yummmm!!!! It's not just the most romantic inn, it's the friendliest too!

This wonderful mariners mansion had everything. A beautiful, spacious room with canopy bed, the most delicious home baked breakfasts and unbelievable hospitality by the new owner, Patricia Kennedy who is the prototypical inn keeper: informative yet unintrusive, businesslike yet very, very wholesome. Her hospitable manner really made our stay so much more enjoyable, and she was full of suggestions when asked, but otherwise totally respectful of our privacy. The common areas were a perfect place to unwind, so cozy and comfortable. The "Gatsbyesque" porch on the side of the house -- replete with classical piano music -- was a perfect place to do the writing I had brought along with me and enjoy a good bottle of wine with my husband. The house has a real sense of history without being stogy. The morning smelled of coffee, the afternoons of cinnamon cakes and brownies. The decor is impeccable -- perhaps as well done as any inn I've seen on the island. The fine art in the main area is absolutely incredible; in fact I bought a piece from the island artist who happened also to be exhibiting in town that week. My husband and I really had a wonderful time and we plan to return in the off-season, when I imagine lighting a fire and enjoying what I think would be a very cozy place to spend a crisp fall night -- or ten!

Martin House was very cozy. It is an old house that has been converted into a small bed and breakfast. The breakfast was very nice out on the porch. The room we had, in the front on the second floor, had a canapy bed and small private bath. The rooms do not have air conditioning or TV. It was a short walk to the center of town, which was nice.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was romantic. However, I realized that I do like to have a tv when I'm waiting for my boyfriend to finish in the shower, get dressed, etc. We read a lot, which was great because they have neat bookshops on the island, but it is nice to have a tv every now and then. Neat, older home with a nice porch.
