“Jaren Coffin Inn can't get any better... best Inn experience”

The best Inn expirence in my travels. They gave me a discount when I added a second night. Great location,, great breakfast of juice, pressure one cup coffee, bagel, and cream cheese. Nice to have a single brew and select the type of coffee with no wait.
Large bathroom with a fan and covered window for privacy with fresh air. Large shower head especially nice with full bath tube.
There is a couch in the room and a full size desk. Great white linens, refrigerator, business center to print out flight boarding passes.
The staff was so polite especially Rachel at the front desk and the manager took time to talk with me. Could not have been better.

The Jared Coffin House, a hostelry since 1847, continues to offer up the historic flavor of this long-ago whaing port. But it's not the same since Nantucket Resorts took it over from the Reads, who ran it for 40 plus years. The demise of the basement Tap Room is very unfortunate.

My single room was as anticipated small, but the bed was comfortable as was the wingchair. I thought the wood side tables and headboard could have done with a refurbishing. Sanding and staining, folks? But I give them kudos for great lighting - a bugaboo of mine because I like to read after a long day.

Alas, noise was a drawback. Are they renovating in the annex? At times it sounded like furniture was being moved. And I could hear TV, voices, and other distractions through the walls. Not excessively obstrusive, but annoying. I wonder what the place sounds like full and busy in-season?

The continental breakfast was adequate. But a quibble. Could the cavernous dining room be accessorized with some flower arrangements, especially at the holiday season? It needed some warmth.

The brick inn is a short walk up Broad Street from the Steamship Authority and provides easy access to restaurants, shops and attractions of the old town.

Overall, value for the dollar was good. But for a B&B, it lacked that homey touch.

We wanted a comfortable place to stay for a weekend visit to Nantucket. Ran into bad luck coming and going with air travel. Fog closed the Nantucket airport late Friday afternoon necessitating an overnight at a Boston Logan airport hotel. The Jared Coffin House reservation was prepaid via the hotel website. Since we had no way to reach the island we called to inform them of our delay and asked if we might be refunded one night. We were told we'd have to speak to the manager upon arrival. We got the first flight out Sat. morning. The hotel manager didn't credit our room. Instead she offered credit at one of two restaurants affiliated with the hotel. This wasn't our preference but we hardly had bargaining power. Our room overlooked a courtyard that was used by neighboring Brotherhood of Thieves pub. Needless to say, noisy. Outside of the central location and the fact that the House has some history, it wasn't a great stay. The rates -- for what's included -- are high, the bathroom was cramped and only queen sized beds are available. The afternoon of our departure we learned the airport was closing again. Instead of a flight to NYC (our destination), we were lucky to get the last ferry to Hyannis, then had to take a cab to a train station in Boston...10 hours after leaving Nantucket we arrived at our hotel in NYC. Quite the odyssey.

Last minute reservations after the ferry was canceled due to bad weather. The room was nothing like the online images, and extremely small. We kept hearing doors slam throughout the night and early morning. Needless to say the walls are thin. The bathroom wasn't as clean as it should have been, and the shower's water temperature was reversed (hot was cold, cold was hot). Wish we spent the money to fly out rather than waste it here.

I found a fantastic deal on the website under "hot dates, hot rates" for a single room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was more than adequate. And the location was perfect! I ate in the restaurant one night, sat at the bar. The food was delicious, and the bartender was highly attentive. The property was well kept. The inn is large compared to a lot of the others in town. I saw some groups staying there. I would definitely return.

The Jared Coffin House offers a nice place in the middle of town to stay. If you’re looking for a water view or the beach, this is not the place as this hotel resides in town. It’s a historical B&B, so don’t expect the most modern rooms, although our room had a window A/C unit, flat screen TV, iron, etc. It got the job done. Great comfortable bed.

A continental breakfast was available and consisted of cereals, pastries, bagels, juice, etc. Coffee, tea and cookies in the afternoon. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful and made you feel ‘at home’. Bottled water is free from the front desk staff.

I didn’t use the restaurant at the Jared Coffin House which is the islands only Chinese food place. It didn’t look like many people did, but smelled great. Ate dinners at Dune and Brandt Point Grille, which were both very good.

We booked at the last minute and had limited options at the end of August. Since we knew the Jared Coffin we decided it was a safe bet. This was my second time at the JC. The other time was in February with 18 inches of snow a few years ago. Back then I had a small single room in the main building. On this stay we were located on the first floor at the buidling on 27 Broad St which was right next door and perfec for ust. The room was quite large and had some nice furniture. The a/c was on the cold side and could not be controlled in the room. We were told to cover the vents if it got too cold. The sofa was rock hard and we decided not to use it. The bathroom was clean but the shower had some wear and tear. The toilet was difficult to flush. You had to hold the handle down until all the water disappeared every single time. The room for continental breakfast was kind of depressing. They could add some paintings or furniture to make it more inviting. We took advantage of the 15% off coupon for breakfast at the Elephant Walk. The wifi at the hotel worked sporadically but I think it was I needed to fully charge my Ipod Touch. The Jared Coffin House staff were very helpful and we would definitely stay there again.
