“Incredible Home Haven”
Reviewed August 1, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We spent a week at John and Scott's incredible Home Haven...woke with the sun to walk the gorgeous property each morning... Joined by turkeys, chipmunks and porcupine.. Up the hill to pick blueberries and across the brook. The farmhouse is splendid and inviting with lights to welcome you home each evening as you venture out. Sturbridge is less than hour South, Boston and Gloucester East and NH north... Surrounding areas are great to explore. Our hosts stocked the fridge as we arrived late our first night with eggs, bread, jam, milk, tea and coffee and met us our first morning for a great tour. You have the entire 80+ acres to yourselves. We had family up for a BBQ and later cooked a lobster feast on the grille. Hope to go back...their photos are spot on and it truly is a Home Haven!

“One of a kind”
Reviewed August 31, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

I'm tempted to say "don't miss this" but I'm afraid too many people will sign up and there won't be room for us next time. This place is completely unlike other rentals you may have tried. It's a meticulous restoration of an 1830"s farmhouse and grounds, surrounded by open pastures, stone walls, lovely flower gardens, an apple orchard and blueberry bushes. The house has been continuously worked on since the property was acquired in 1990 and is now like something out of a design magazine---careful attention to detail, use of vintage materials, very well-equipped, comfortable without being fussy. It's small: two bedrooms, one bath, sitting room, kitchen/dining area, unfinished basement with laundry, very nice deck. There's a barn under renovation, and a new double garage complete with lighted cupola and weather vane. Hosts were very helpful with regard to local hikes, farm stands, attractions, etc. and responsive to any and all questions. Nothing much going on in Ashburnham but a decent market, liquor store, bakery/coffee shop, pizza joint, etc.; only an hour from Boston. We wanted the rural feel and that's exactly what you get. In short, we'll go back as soon and as often as possible----and so should you---just don't conflict with us!
