“One of the best ethnic restuarants in Arlington, and there are many”

Wonderful food. Great Atmosphere. Great host. What more can I say. This is my favorite ethnic restaurant in Arlington. The first thing you notice upon entering this Nepalese/Indian restaurant is the wonderful enticing aromas of the food. You are then greeted by the sweet owner. They have a very good value 9.99 luncheon buffet. The buffet changes almost daily. It is well thought out. The soups are usually really good, their Naan some of the best anywhere. The Pakoras are crispy and delicious. The Lamb curry is to die for and if you have not tried goat this would be the place to try it. The desserts are really good and of course healthy too. This is a great date night place too because it has a nice atmosphere and is reasonably quiet. So if you are headed for the Capitol for a movie and a bite try their more extensive menu at dinner and their wine list. This review was well overdue and I was thrilled to write it. ENJOY

Just 3 blocks from the Capitol Theatre, this is a relatively inexpensive place to get those Indian meals you love (palak paneer) and other dishes you've never heard of (grilled shrimp with mustard seed sauce). WIne and beer at minimum (didn't check about other options), VERY nice people, and excellent options in a range of prices. No entree over $20.00, and many appetizers/small plates for reasonable $ (above-mentioned shrimp dish, with 6 shrimp, under $8). Will go back in a heartbeat! Three of us ate and drank (one bottle of wine, plus two glasses) for $104 (after tax but before tip).

I have eaten here five or six times and have never been disappointed. The Nepalese cuisine is very similar to Indian food, so there are definitely mild to spicy options. If you have zero tolerance for any kind of spice, it might be hard to find something you like. Don't forget to try the momos - the Nepalese dumpling. They are outstanding. I could just eat two plates of those for dinner and be all set. The decor is very simple and the restaurant has the feel of a clean mom and pop place. A great neighborhood find.

Kathmandu Spice is an Indian/Nepali restaurant; not a Thai restaurant as the cuisine tag in tripadvisor says (I've sent in a request to update this).

They offer a weekday lunch buffet which is good. One thing nice about this restaurant is that they update their buffet recipe daily on their website. Check out http://www.kathmanduspice.com/buffet.php if you want to know whether you'll like the buffet.

The various Sekuwa dishes are wonderful (bbq in a clay pit)

The okra masala was good but a mark of a good restaurant is when they use fresh okra and chop it themselves. Clearly Kathmandu spice does not, the okra had the stalk; a good indication that they used okra from a packet.

They also have set meals the vegetarian set meal is good.

Try the momo's (steamed dumplings)

Nepali roti's are a little different and worth a try.

I like Kathmandu Spice, note that they are closed on Tuesdays!

Service is basic and functional.

We were staying at the Homewood Suites at the Arlington/Cambridge border and just walked down Mass. Ave. looking to decide what we might try for dinner. This restaurant seemed to be a little different so we decided to try it. We asked for recommendations for more milder spiced items and were told that for most dishes they could adjust the spiciness to our taste. We opted for some shrimp in coconut sauce which was delicious. The tandoori chicken we ordered showed up on a sizzling plate which was unexpected. It too was very good. We also had the curried potato and cauliflower which was enjoyable. Overall, the meal was to our liking.
