“Historic site”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Hard to believe what actually happened at this site
Fits in with the history which fills the Island especially if you also
visit the cemetery and read the Grave stones

“What might have been”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

There is considerable lore about this bridge and the 'blood' staining within the plaster. The story suggests that prisoners from the penal colony killed their overseer and buried his body within the bridge, only to have their crime discovered when his blood seeped through the plaster. History doesn't actually record such an event - but then does it really matter - a good yarn and certainly an interesting bridge. Well worth the visit.

“Nice View”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

Once you learn the truth of the story, the bridge just becomes part of a nice view, looking out to sea and around the corner to the cemetery and the golf course. It was a disappointment to me to learn that it is not at all likely that anyone was aver cemented into the bricks and mortar of the bridge and that blood did not come oozing out for some days after! Of course it is a great story and one from which (the story that is) Bloody Bridge may have derived its name. But the truth of th matter is that no such thing happened. But it is a lovely little bridge and part of a great walk along the forsore at the northern end of Old Kingston Town.

“interesting stop”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

We loved the history attached to the bridge and the fact you could walk all around it and explore. We took lots of photos from on top and underneath. While walking around the gully area below the graidge we came upon a bird sitting on its nest at the base of a tree. It didn't move but just looked at us. That was very special.
