Kingston & Arthur's Vale area is so addictive, we found ourselves visiting there everyday, the buildings, the ruins, the scenery & the history just got you in, with every little piece of history you found out it made you want to find out more, the research centre is full of amazing records. Highly recommend visiting there...

We spent a whole day doing the various museums here, which were excellent value especially if you choose the pass which we did rather than each individual site. The cemetery was also of great interest - the only one where convicts and others including the officers and soldiers of the time being buried in the same cemetery. Quite tragic reading the headstones and realising how young some of them were - one rather poignant one read "this hell on earth" and executions for transgressions which would have had mitigating circumstances today.
The Pinetree Tours half day orientation tour is well worth doing as it gives you an overall view so that you can go back and do more at your own pace.
Overall, Norfolk Island is a great place to visit - but you really only need 3 or 4 days - not 7 or 8. Absolutely nothing to do at night - unless you want to spend on expensive tour options.

The centre of history on the Island Kingston & Arthurs Vale is just an amazing place so well preserved. Buy a multi-museum pass for the best deal but go early in the day.

Great to hear about the history here, not always pleasant but true account. Great photo opportunities for the photographer. Beware of the ghosts.

This area was personal to me as my 4 times Great Grandmother was here with the First Fleet and was married here. They lived on an allotment in Arthur's Vale World Heritage Site.
