I booked my stay here specifically because I wanted peaceful, quiet, isolation. There's nothing notable nearby, perhaps Newburyport but that is a good 30 minutes away by car.

My objective was to find somewhere I could unwind and prepare for a new job. The staff was friendly, especially the desk clerk Katherine, there's a compact but surprisingly well appointed workout room, and to my surprise a basketball/tennis court as well as a pool with jacuzzi.

The suite with king bed was very comfortable, with a full kitchenette (with dishwasher) and separate bedroom. With the free breakfast and food available in the lobby shop one might never need to leave. There were even gas grills available in a picnic area outside.

Speaking of the breakfast, it was...a breakfast. An excellent effort had been put in to accommodating all possible wants, however they served a baked egg patty rather that scrambled eggs, which I would call...sustinence. Everything else, including their own excellent house brand of coffee, was quite tasty.

If I ever need another Retreat in the future I will definitely return here.

Complimentary dinner sucked, what there was of it. Breakfast was good and attendant very helpful, a 180 from the previous evening. Room was nice and beds comfortable. Desk staff was helpful. The place is not well signed and was hard to find.

We are so glad that you were able to take advantage of the complimentary dinner and drinks. I will be sure to pass along the comments to ensure a better quality of service. We do not want anyone to feel that way about the amenities the hotel has to offer!

Thank you for taking the time to review us and I look forward to sharing these comments with the staff!

If you are on business and want quiet place to stay. This is good. But staff is not warm, fake smile and unnatural way of saying good morning, how are you, especially in the breakfast area. The staff is not willing to make anything comfortable for your stay. When i came to the room, the airconditioner was not working, internet didn't connect, light bulbs were dead. Each time I asked the staff, but her response of the day was "Now what?" Theairconditioner was never fixed and finally they gave me another room after a week. Breakfast fruits are only apples and bananas everyday. For people stay longer, we get tired. It would be nice to have one another fruit like other competitor hotels. The picture shows more variety of fruits. Mon - Fri, they serve food but no salad or vegie sticks like other competitors in the area. Some Homewood Suites serve wine too but not here. It's really business like and you won't feel at home. I stay here because of HIlton Points. The new manager Stacie and another guy are the only people really making an effort to make people feel comfortable to stay and working hard..

Room Tip: It's all quiet, except airconditioner sometimes makes big noise.

Bath: large, clean, some counter space, toilet has LID!, shower has good water pressure.

Kitchen: large fridge, micro, basic utensils/kitchen stuff, 2-pan stove.

Living room: horribly uncomfortable couch (TV in 2 rooms, so may not matter), enough space, phone, end table, foot rest, desk, phone.

Bedroom: adequate size, good bed, silly comforter (floppy, hard to keep on the bed).

Laundry facilities, $1.50/wash, $1.25/dryer, 2nd floor, OK. Wash detergent in little store in lobby.

Ample parking, not necessarily next to the door(s), although close.

Breakfast included. SIMA is the kitchen fairy during the week, personal, fun, loud and all about us enjoying our food. BEST ASSET OF THIS ALREADY GOOD HOTEL! Breakfast itself was above average... during the week with Sima. On the weekend, nothing tasted remotely good.

Pool: Hot tub never full, it has a leak and nobody (except for Joshua, the new person at the front desk) seems to care. Pool is a size where a swimmer, without diving in, can do 3, 4 strokes, although they put a rope through it (?!?)... they'd probably say it's for "safety." It is clean enough, and was never busy when we went to play in the water.

Not a very quiet hotel; the air conditioner is loud enough to drown it out while sleeping (except for when someone decides to mow before 8am on a weekend).

Front desk people were adequate, Joshua above adequate.

All rooms are non-smoking, I am told 3 were once not (3?), and they still smell, so if you are sensitive to old smoke smell, make sure you don't get one of those rooms. We switched rooms (130 is not OK, smell-wise) within a few minutes, and the front desk person was happy to help us.

Nothing is close (stores, sights, city, etc.), yet the highway is next door. We shopped in Derry and filled the fridge for preparing food in the micro and on the 2-pan stove.

We stayed 3 nights, and are overall satisfied.

Room Tip: 112 is fine. the hotel is NOT quiet. Lawn-mowing before 8am on a Saturday. Again, only Joshua seemed...

Stopped here on the way back from Maine. Spent a night over the weekend. The price was very reasonable and the service and breakfast were fine. The location was nothing special. It is located in the back of an office park. Some minor housekeeping issues, but otherwise a decent stay. I appreciated that when I commented on it, I got a quick reply from the manager.

We stayed here July 18. Had a nice checkin and nice room. Clean and cozy with very comfortable room. Very affordable. Breakfast was disappointing. Got there around 8:30 and there was little and many things were out. Had 2 toaster that everyone kept using but only 2 worked. Would've thought they'd remove broken one and get a new one. Everyone was waiting. Only had a few apples. No Danishes , donuts or muffins. They had tater tots, oatmeal, and some egg thing along with OJ, milk, and coffee. Line was so long that i just grabbed bread and made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Another post mentioned storm a couple weeks ago. Basketball court is yellow taped off and broken pool fence area is still piled next to pool. Just not a lot of beautification here. Plant pots by pool exit are all dead. Debris in yard. Maintenance doesn't seem to maintain. Back area had roped off area where some phone type of repair was started. Just a lot of poor looking areas. Ironically, maintenance man was hanging out in the breakfast area. They have a lawn company come in and now. They came on Saturday morning and blew grass all over the front of our car. It would seem they would come after checkout to avoid this. Pool was comfy and refreshing. Exercise room was nice with many weights, balls, and treadmills. Overall, nice experience for the price. Just seems like management should really take a look at what their maintenance people are doing. We would go back.

The staff made the checkin process quick. The morning breakfast staff is the friendliest I have ever experienced. Hotel is clean and had no issues during my stay. I used the fitness area and felt it was bigger and had access to enough equipment to get a good workout.
