We had three nights here in July and were wanting a contrast with the big city (Boston) and the fancy plush hotel (Parker House). We certainly got the contrast. The Inn is caught in a timewarp, great looking architecturally with those preserved period features that make it gloomy. Agree that the room was not the cleanest, some folk will find all the trinkets and knick-knacks just too much (where do you put all your own stuff, there aren't many clear surfaces). The place has a definite hush to it and we found ourselves tiptoe'ing around somewhat. We weren't bothered by the road noise - it was the train that we heard. Certainly nothing to criticise the owners about!!! The breakfast set-up worked and we spoke to people we otherwise wouldn't have come into contact with. Got some great recommendations for things to do. Enjoyed Amerherst and the surrounding area a lot - go to the Bison farm!!!
